OK. That would be good, but in 10w-30 (if opting for it, and I am not suggesting this oil grade), look for none other than 10w-30 by Caltex / Havoline. Its best value for money in its league!

I think YES. I have already mentioned my similar observations above.

My best guess is that he was using a cheap 10W40 oil.

Then the same engine oil grade / viscosity may be continued, in semi-synthetic / mineral, but API SN / SM, and from some reputed brand.

The leakages were present when I purchased the car. It didn't start after changing the oil. I had to top off the oil after every 3 weeks and that was becoming expensive. 1ltr of total 5w30 costs around 1200 from their fuel station.
The seals have been replaced already.

If possible, ask the previous owner, which oil he had been pouring? What was the drain interval, etc.?

Regarding selection of engine oil grade / viscosity, brand, etc. please be careful and exercise caution, if going for fully synthetic, thin engine oils.

I've messaged him alot. He just doesn't seem to care. Till now I've spent around 40,000 because he abused and neglected the car for years on end.
1) Used cng
2) never ever replaced tyres
3) Didn't bother about tappet adjustment
4) ignored the seal
5) never changed the ATF
6) didn't pay attention to the paint, the roof has dull blue paint, as if it's fading away.

If on Total 5w-30, do check for engine health; compression of engine, and smoke from the exhaust (if any).

A compression test can best guide about engine's health.

Hmmm... Now that's really very bad and sad.

I think, lots of works are still pending, and reqd. to be done.

If he had not done anything, and you knew it, then you may not have bought such car.

Ah yes. I never ever saw smoke from the exhaust. Not when i bought the car, not when i changed the oil, and not now (when almost all work is done.)

As mentioned, i had rear shockers, rear bushing, timing bearing, water body, seals replaces, spark plugs (I'm thinking of buying NGK Iridium IX for the next time).
Now the pending work
1) Timing belt
2) Ac Compressor
3) front shockers
3) front bushing & tie rods with rackends, ball joints.
4) and i cannot stress this enough, SOME NEW FUDGING TYRES

Still, if smoke is absent (meaning no oil consumption), then compression readings can still be low.

Only a compression test can best guide about engine's health.

Although highly unlikely, but there can be a possibility of fake Total 5w-30 engine oil, because if there is no smoke from the exhaust and oil is getting consumed, then it is not making sense to me.

INN SHAA ALLAH I hope so too. Man i really dislike the owner because of the way he treated this car. When I got it, and whenever i hit any bumps, you could feel the shocks in your body and the sound of metal on metal contact from the back. After the replacement of rear suspension, the drive is VERY VERY SMOOTH. The shockers are performing well enough. Oh and also, the rear wheel bearings are worn out (maybe thats why i have negative camber on the rear, or the camber may be due to worn out tyres)

Yes. There can be such reasons.

If you are willing to spare and spend some amount, then I would sincerely suggest to get your vehicle inspected by Pakwheels cars inspection services, for any / all issues.

They will take some amount, and almost 35-60 minutes, but check each and everything about your car, and tell all the details.

This will also make the diagnosis easy, and ruling out of some unnecessary things.

It was a mistake buying this car, in all honesty. But after spending so much on making it better, I have hope that now after the required work is done, the engine will be in good health.

Yes I'll opt for it soon enough. I want to save as much as I can on the work that doesn't need any cher char in it. Also, will servicing the fuel injectors give more benefit or some STP/ABRO fuel injector cleaner?

For the next oil change, I'm thinking of getting LM Engine flush and pour in Kixx G1 API SN 10W40 semi-syntheitic This will be better for my engine compared to API SJ 20W40, i guess. Any idea how much a compression test will cost?
