Toyota Altis 1.6 AT Or Toyota Yaris 1.5 X Ativ CVT

Hey Pakwheelers….. I intend to buy Toyota Altis 1.6 AT. But at such time when Toyota Yaris is about to be launched , one cannot help but wonder... is Toyota Yaris 1.5 X Ativ a better choice? Given that the features being offered in Yaris will be at par with the ones being offered in Toyota Altis 1.6 (other than a marginally inferior engine in Ativ 1.5). Where as Yaris might be 2.4 lacs cheaper than Altis (Altis is priced at 3,149,000 where as Yaris Ativ X 1.5 is expected to be around 2,909,000). My question is whether couple more BHPs a reason enough to purchase Altis 1.6 or should I go for Toyota Yaris 1.5 X Ativ and save 2.4 lacs?

Toyota Altis 1.6 AT = Non CVT and definitely a fuel guzzler and a poor resale.

Toyota Yaris 1.5 X Ativ CVT = Expecting a decent fuel economy from 1.5 CVT. Features can not predict until its launch in few days, resale will be too early to predict but will be better then Altis 1.6 AT.

Altis 1.6 has great resale, infact, at one point in time, there was no own on Grande but deliveries for 1.6 were taking months and it was selling on premium.

However, I am sure Yaris will be a hot; provided it is price competitive. Besides, after a long time, there will be a cvt in this segment (not counting Ciaz).

Who cares about 1 or 2 km/L when buying a 30 lack car.

If you dont care about shashkas and have the extra 3 lack. Altis 1600 any day.

Comparison of Yaris with Altis is just like comparing City with Civic. If i would be on your place, i would go for Altis 1.6, however better to wait few days untill you practically experience Yaris 1.5 in showroom.

All Corolla variants have very good resale... depending on customer preference..yaris being cvt will be good in fuel consumption but drive..comfort and space wise its a city only...not a Corolla

Following are the Pros of both vehicles:

Pros of Altis 1.6:

1. Bigger engine
2. More Spacious
3. Bigger tires (16 inch rim as opposed to 15 inch rim size in Yaris)
4. Better looking body (At least in my opinion)
5. Better infotainment system (8 inches Display as opposed to 7 inches display in Ativ. Besides its alpine which i doubt will be in Ativ)

Pros of Ativ 1.5 X:

1. Acceleration is almost the same as that of altis (I have viewed two videos. Altis was clocking 0-100 in 11.52 seconds and ativ 1.5 was achieving 0-100 in 11.6 seconds). The ativ in question was 1.5 manual as I couldnt find acceleration test of CVT variant. I dont know whether CVT version will be better or worst but that's the closet I could get to the acceleration benchmark.( https://youtu.be/YecOR0kItQ8 for Ativ 1.5 and https://youtu.be/9kk2mv1I3FU for Altis).
2. Push start button
3. CVT
4. Automatic Climate Control
5. Better fuel economy as compared to altis (Refer to the already mentioned videos) despite having similar performance.
6. Cheaper
7. Low annual tax as compared to altis on account 1496cc engine as opposed to 1598cc engine in Altis.

Am I missing something here???

Hmmm... Usually whenever traction control is offered, it is complemented by Sports Mode Button too. Before anyone bashes me for the sports mode thing.... I know its gimmicky and Yaris is not meant to be a race car but still... its good to have options

I don't think Toyota will introduce climate control and push start in 5his segment. If it happens then it will have same price as gli auto.
