There are two basic points
Corolla back seat width is quite a lot and three persons can comfortably sit there but 3 people sitting in city's back seat will face quite some discomfort
If what other people are saying that seating wise yaris is the same as that of city then seriously it would be of no use buying it.you would be better off buying city
If you keep speed at 80 to 90 then you get more than 17 km per litre. Nearly 19 km at speed of 70 in fifth gear
I am not a fan of honda but petrol consumption is really best of honda city (but not in the city where it will match that of corolla) but only on the highway.
Btw bad points of city is its very weak body and very low clearance due to its fuel tank placement. And city 1.3 will beat corolla 1.3 any day in a race
We have altis 1.6 auto and city manual and corolla old shape so i do have an idea about them but i haven't driven yaris
Also i would like to point out that cvt's loose 18 percent power at the wheels. For example city has 100 hp 1.3variety but if it has cvt then you have just 82 horsepower on hand
While climbing from chilas to Babusar top you need all the power you can get.
With 5 normal sized adults sitting in city you need a lot of luck climbing from Naran to Babusar top due to the very bad condition of the road currently and city's low clearance
I am quite surprised when i see families in civic in naran
I think definitely they will sell their civic on returning back to Lahore
I take my corolla with full load to naran and hunza for the last 6 years
My car is 2008 early model old shape and it is a very good car and has never caused any problem
It can take a lot of beating. The power on hand in altis 1.6 auto would nearly be the same as that of corolla 1.3 manual old model with slight difference but that difference will be covered up due to the large body size of corolla
But suppose in a race on level ground altis will win
So i have kept all points in my view in front of you and finally i would like to say that if milage is not a consideration then yaris but if fuel economy is important and if you frequently travel outside the city then buy honda city 1.3
And if you need a somewhat stronger body and better road clearance then go for yaris
So basically it all boils down to your current needs and considerations
Another point for consideration is that the current model of city is quite old now and we have been seeing it since i think 2009 or so
And lastly if your choice is between yaris and altis and if
A. You don't need more seating space
B. And you don't need to show off as altis is a bigger car with maybe more clearance due to larger tires
Then go for yaris
But if you need more seating space etc then go for altis
Also pls note that altis has good resale value definitely
But yaris would be a new and different design so shaska is also there
I would say that you should go to showroom and sit in both the driving seat and the back seat of yaris and then sit in altis and make up your mind. Power wise there is not much of a difference between 1.5 and 1.6 due to more weight of altis
Then there is also the plus point of 2.5lac difference
And corolla's design will change by next year while yaris design will remain constant for atleast 4 more years
I think go for yaris
