Consider Aspire CVT, better than both...
Keep Yaris as option 2 and Altis 1.6 as option 3...

Go and sit inside the cars and you will understand your self, aspire has the best cabin features, reasonable looks and fuel efficient. Boot space and Cabin space is amazing, however, slightly stiffer suspension

Yaris is very comfortable, fuel efficient, decent features, although lacks cruise control and retractable mirrors but can be added later, the reason i ranked city higher is the slighly smaller cabin in yaris. its a great car to have never the less. The road presence of Yaris is a little deficient when stock, however, bodykit makes it look quite reasonable.

Altis 1.6 at the moment is the oddest car in the market, lacks everything, no retractable mirrors, no smart entry, no push start, very bad fuel economy, almost 5 kilometer a liter lesser than Yaris and City, it has no rear vents as well... makes you feel stone age... no climate control, odd looking bumpers.. its good for taxi use though, 5 sawariyan beth jaien gi... as for boot space, City and Yaris easily match it...

Dear @mohammadali_1 the fuel economy figures you claimed are unfortunately not same as per my experience. I have driven both, yaris and Altis 1.6 for long. In Lahore, both give nearly same average. Around 11 to 13 km/l. Altis 1.6 gave 12-13 while yaris, 12-13.5 on my drive. It is a very close value. Same was reported by Mr. Suneel Munj in his expert reviews on both cars so these are unbiased values authenticated by Mr. Suneel too. Technically, there can't be a difference of 5 km/l in these cars in city driving without hybrid system, especially when a cvt gear box has both torque converter and rubber-band effect of belt in play. Also, both engines (yaris and altis) are based on exactly same technology while the altis engine is a bigger block engine. The super ect gear box has computer controlled actuators that help in delivering better fuel average even with 4 gears.
Yaris is capable of delivering better fuel average but due to stop and go traffic and idling time on signals, the average is affected. This might be the reason of such close values in daily drive.
Both cars were launched in 2013 in intl market so they are same gen in real. Altis and yaris/city are two different classes. Corolla is a compact sedan like civic. Yaris and city are subcompact cars. Corolla is way more spacious then yaris. Corolla has soft touch materials and premium feel same as Grande, while Yaris has plastics (although good quality). However, honda city is better then yaris in cabin space. Also, the performance of Honda engines is unmatched (I have kept Hondas for a long time and am in love with the performance these cars offer).
Further, yaris has 1 star crash test rating which is poorest of all while city has 4 star and corolla has 5 star. Yaris was definitely best selling sedan but only for initial few months then the sales declined steeply. You can confirm this from PAMA website, monthly sales records. Currently altis has highest sale number and resale value.
In the end, your point is valid, sit in each of the car, drive it for a few kms and then feel the difference in cabin feel and response of car.

I know it might be getting confusing for you. Recently I went through exactly same choice. People some times try to promote the car they own. Instead of relying on people, the best solution for you might be to consider the following;

1. Check the expert reviews of Suneel Munj Sb on Toyota Yaris 1.5 and Altis 1.6 Auto. In those reviews look for the fuel economy (in-city and on long) and 0 to 100 performance test yourself. These reviews are available on YouTube channel of Pak Wheels.
2. Go to PAMA website and download the monthly sales records and see the market performance of these cars yourself. Choose production and sales of these vehicles option and see the monthly comparison of how many units of Yaris and Corolla are being sold per month and which car is facing a decline in sales or rise in sales. This defines the future of a car/brand.

3. Visit the show room, experience the cabin feel yourself. Corolla may offer a spacious and premium feel same as in Altis Grande while Yaris 1.5 offer better features including auto climate control, push start and keyless entry in a smaller cabin. Decide yourself, if you need features or the feel.
4. Also, compare the on-road prices. Altis is a premium car with a premium price. Altis 1.6 Auto is around 4 lacs expensive then Yaris 1.5 while Altis 1.6 Auto Special Edition is 7.7 lacs expensive then Yaris. (These prices are on road prices, inclusive of all taxes for non-filer and freight for Lahore city)

Just purchased a City and Grande.

City is a over priced fancy dabba. ( yes it is the most beautiful in its class). And paying 65/80k extra for a 1.6 Corolla is worth every penny. Smart entry and climate control ac or retractable mirrors are fancy shit.

At the end of the day Corolla is a bigger, better, comfortable car.

Yaris or City are smaller cars. Easier to maneuver good for secondary sedans, ager kissi ko ek gari leni ho Corolla any day minus features.

A good maintained Corolla does 10 to 11 in usual drives and 8.5/9 if driven for groceries only.

Yaris or City would do similar for groceries might do 12 to 14 on longer routes compared to 11 of Corolla.

At the end, Corolla is. Bigger and better car any given moment or day no matter what ever the justification be. No features even if Yaris and City start flying they will remain a league smaller then a Corolla.

Just like Alto is inferior to Cultus or WagonR.

My reason for buying a city was I needed a smaller car, city was readily available Corolla had a 6 to 8 month waiting period, don't like Yaris. If anyone takes my opinion I'd suggest them Yaris if they don't mind the looks. (City pe bilawaje 2 lack deine ki kia tuk hai unless u wana go for better looks, better looking interior)

Also Yaris is better then spending 24/25 lac on Cultus and Picanto
