Yaris starts at 35k ends at 55k riyals while Corolla starts at 65k and goes all the way upto 93k riyals. In Arabia yaris is considered to be a cheap rent a car-ish vehicle and its been hated to be used on the highways due to its light weight, stability and dimensions (lesser space). Corolla has been worldwide proven to be a solid rigid car just like a camry although a tad inferior to it. Now coming to Pakistan, both corolla and yaris use the same suspension but here's what makes the difference, IMC deliberately increases the height of it's vehicles. Hence Corolla's handling at higher speeds is quite poor which i'm sure every sane person would agree upon. Now if Altis 1.6 having 215 R16 floats at high speeds just imagine how a ridiculously high Yaris would perform having 185's on it. When someone says Yaris is just a vitz with a trunk, it's somewhat true. Also Corolla is a good sedan no doubt but it cant be categorized as a luxury one nor can a civic. Nonetheless i was quite happy to see the features being offered in Yaris as Pakistan's auto industry is FINALLY prospering Alhamdullilah. Whoever buys a Yaris or an Altis Ma Shaa Allah congrats Allah aapkey naseeb men karey but a fact is a fact that yaris is no comparison to Altis though it absolutely devours Honda CITY. I think the biggest factor in Altis 1.6 being priced higher than Ativ 1.5 is to maintain the Corolla Altis's Brand Perception. Corolla Altis is perceived to be a good car in Pakistan whereas Yaris has yet to carve out its market share. Since Toyota Will be launching a new corolla Altis soon, it has to maintain the Corolla Altis Badge's sanctity For that Na Azu Billah, how come Altis can be priced lower than Yaris

Even a gli automatic is priced slightly more than the loaded yaris. And rightly so, what to talk of altis. Technically, both fall in different segment. So even an xli can't be compared with any yaris trim.

Honda city wont have features of and audi A6 woh bhi isi market ki gari ho g. Features donot make a worthy car . Faw v2 had all features better than all hatchs in pakistan at the time of launch but it cdnt capture the market. So lets get into real world and think about market presence.

Faw V2 failed because it had a very ugly interior and this is something that it shares in common with the current generation of corolla... ironically, corolla 2012 say 14 wali shape has much better resale value than the current generation!

Corolla 2020 is expected to be a total game changer, old cars will loose there share in the market because of that

Hello everyone? I have been looking for a car under 35lacs. I'm upgrading from Honda City 1.3 Prosmatec. So, I have seen Toyota Yaris 1.5 Activ (Top of the line) and Altis 1.6 Automatic. As I'm more into Toyota Altis and I need a car for a short term use (Probably be 1-1.5y's). As of now, I have consider that 1.5 Yaris has so many basic features which Altis doesn't have. I was confused that where Toyota Indus is actually wants to place 1.6 Altis in the market? Yeah, 1.5 Yaris looks weird to me, but it does have so many basic options like climate control, traction control, engine start/stop, charging ports at the back, welcoming LCD on the odometer, sports mode etc etc. And if we consider an Altis brand which still does have a normal a/c controls knobs noting extra except the shape. Also, I have been known that 1.5 Yaris has smart key entry system too. So, What does this Altis stands for? Yaris has CVT-i transmission which performs better. To my mind, Toyota Indus must have to launch a facelift of Altis 1.6 if they really wants to maintain their sale of 1.6 Altis. They need to introduce chrome door handles, paddle shifters, push start, auto climate control, better infotainment system. Otherwise, there's not even basic features available in Altis 1.6 expect the shape and few bhp's. What do you guys thinks?

I would advise u to consider a used facelift Grande 1.8 CVT-i, would come in at about 32-35 lakh, low mileage, genuine paint and well maintained, under 30,000km on the odometer, if ur in Karachi, it would be cheaper as Lahore and Islamabad cars are expensive. You're absolutely right about the Altis 1.6 Automatic, they need to introduce a small update to the 1.6 Altis such as retractable mirrors, push start, smart keyless-go entry, climate control, projection headlights, and traction control. BUT the thing is that they would ruin the market and customers of Grande 1.8, people would avoid it and would rather prefer the Altis 1.6 if introduced with these new features...They're trying to position it below the GRANDE and above the Yaris X Ativ 1.5 CVT-i, let's see what they do with the 12th Generation Altis 1.6 Auto...Would be interesting...

1.6 is a entry level Corolla now and your comparing it with the top of the line Yaris.

Alto VXL has side retractable mirrors, while Swift and Ciaz don't, so is Alto a better car?

COROLLA is a better option over Yaris any given day.

The features ur demanding from the 1.6 Corolla don't even come in the 1.8L non Grande Corolla.

Altis doesn't means luxury infact it doesn't means anything. The Japanese Corolla is Axio, the other Corolla is Altis. Simple

Comparing top of the line yaris with base level Corolla on features is same as comparing top of the corolla with base level Camry. The top model corolla would have sunroof push start etc whereas the camry wouldn't. This doesn't make the Camry a lesser car.

Same analogy can be used for base level accord vs top of the line civic .

I was going through the exact same situation and was initially inclined towards altis too. But after going through the spec sheets of both vehicles, I have decided to wait a bit and let the yaris launch properly first. Thing is.... on paper ativ 1.5 seems to be a better package but until I actually drive it.... can't be so sure about the experience. Having said that.... from all the videos I have reviewd pertaining to ativ x I am pretty sure that I'll end up buying a new ativ.

Answering to your question that isn't indus afraid of cannabalizing it's altis 1.6 sales on account of introduction of ativ 1.5...... well I believe some serious face-lift(true face-lift if you must) is on its way since 12th generation is not to be released in the near future. The higher price is just to maintain the brand's equity of altis badge and to enable toyota to maintain higher price when it finaly decides to release 12th generation altis.
