Toyota Belta 2NZ FE 4 speed automatic

I have a Toyota Belta having 2NZ FE engine coupled with a 4 speed automatic transmission. It's an AWD variant. I want to change the gearbox with a 5 speed automatic transmission. Reason for doing this is obvious. Lower down the revs resulting in lesser engine sound and increase fuel economy. Is this a possibility? And, will it be a bolt on mechanical part swap? Or would it require electrical parts replacement as well?

The 2NZ-FE was never factory mated to any 5 speed automatic gears, so finding one that fits is a challenge by itself. This also will increase the electrical work by fitting parts together that were not meant to go together by Toyota.

In this case your best bet would be to purchase a Belta with a CVT for added fuel economy, sell your current one. There is a 5 gear manual transmission that was mated from the factory would be an option, but I wouldn't mess with a car if it didnt need to.

He is comparing it to more modern vehicles and the fact that additional gears would allow it to lower the revs. If wanted an additional RPM meter can be installed or a cluster that came with revs but there is no need

2nz with 4 speed super ect has less RPM than most automatic cars in this segment even manual 2nz has lower gear ratio compare to 2nz auto.

So you are saying that the belta 2nz has a 4 speed super ect transmission and it does not rev the engine at a higher rate to achieve good speed?

It's okay. I think we are trying to overthink. My discussion point was to mate the engine with a CVT transmission or a 5 speed Automatic transmission. Apparently it doesn't seem to have an option so I tagged Capsat and Raja Atta to see if there is any possibility. Otherwise I will have to stick with the stock set up.

There was no discussion aimed at whether the transmission revs the engine on higher rpms or not.

And the AWD version has shorter gear ratios as compared to 2WD .
So this vehicle is designed for Hilly areas and to increase traction in winters and snow AWD is there for maximum traction.

Now if we talk about highway cruises then yes it lags economy. And drove in high rpms.

185/70/R14 is the current tyre size but I have a spare set of wheels in 185/65/R15

Mine doesn't not have the shaft. Some dumb person removed it taking the charm away. But the engine is loud due to short gear ratios even at 80.

I dirve a 1kr vitz and even that is not that loud considering the CVT transmission

So what if I choose to shift to manual gear then what needs to be changed apart from the gear lever, transmission, add clutch, add clutch cylinder and pipes?

Any change in wiring and ECU?

what fuel economy are you currently getting ? 2NZ-FE Yaris/Belta came with 4 speed automatic, you cannot find a CVT in it.

I also have 2NZ-FE Yaris 1300cc , it does 11.5 to 12.5 in city and 16.5 - 18.5 on highway
