Assalam alikum , friends mana toyota corolla leni ha pick and drop service k lia or ap logo ko pata ha es kam ma city ma tora or travel ziyada karna parta ha or 3 sa 4 bandy lazmi he hoty hain or fuel ka khayal karna parta ha , mujhy ab samajh nhi aa rahi k ma corolla gli 2008 up 1.3 Purchase karun ya phr 2003-2007 se saloon 1.6 karun ? Q K kuch loog kehty hain 1.6 ki average 1.3 sa behtr ha , experience hazrat plz help me

WSalam, between the models you have mentioned - fuel economy wise 2008+ 1.3 gli would be a better choice for sure. 1.6 saloon have old 3zzfe engine which is bit heavy on fuel.

After 2010, 1.6 engine was replaced with 1zrfe which return better fuel economy. So that saying that 1.6 return better fuel economy is actually true for 1.6 alts (1zrfe) (auto/manual) vs 1.3 2nzfe. (auto/manual) respectively.

1zrfe fuel consumption is more than 2nzfe, it is more fuel efficient in the sense that it gives more horsepower but consumes slightly more fuel. If talking about kms/litre 2nz will always use less fuel given other variables remain constant

If we only talk about engines 2nzfe surely consume less fuel than 1zrfe. But when fitted in a vehicles, there are also other factors like transmission, weight etc.
So if we compare a Corolla 1.6 auto (1zrfe) and Corolla 1.3 auto (2nzfe), the later give horrible fuel economy, reason ? 87 hp engine coupled with 4 speed gear and heavy chasis, in that case 1.6 definitely return better economy.

Not talking about engines alone, as they cant travel without a chassis so kilo meters per litre cant be known since engine wont travel any kms without being in a car, my experience is both engines in same car, same driver, same motor oil, same air pressure and same general condition of car, car powered by 2nzfe will travel slightly more kms/l

I respect your opinion/experience, but my experience is different and so does lot of other people who shared on PW. One can search pw, 1.3 Corolla Auto will always give less mileage than 1.6 Auto (I am referring to Pakistani corolla post 2011) . However manual 1.3 would return better economy than 1.6 Auto.

In pak corolla 1.3 auto did not come until 2015 or 2016, yes many people will have varying experiences

Also in the thread you linked most people are talking theoretically, dont think anybody is sharing actual first hand experience with both engines while keeping most variables constant, i guess driving style matters the most

I have experience of se saloon for 7 year kept 2 se saloon in Karachi i never got more than 9km/l mostly it gives 8 i am sure about it

Se saloon engine was a different generation
