The finance bill was amended before passing on Wednesday night and amended version says local auto's of 1700 cc and above will be charged 10% FED to clear the air of cars falling 1800cc or 1796 cc

The same finance bill also made last minute amendments where every non filer can buy any local made car, previously 1300 cc or below when finance bill first presented to parliament in Jan23.

Amendments in the Federal Excise Act, 2005:_

In the Finance Supplementary (Second Amendment) Bill, 2019 10% federal excise duty was proposed for locally manufactured motor vehicles of engine capacity of 1800 cc and above.

However, in order to address the concerns of local manufacturers of motor vehicles, the proposed engine capacity is proposed to be revised to 1700cc.

In the shared column it says govt. made adjustments to revise excise duty from 1800cc to 1700cc capacity cars to address the local car manufacturers. Does it even make sense?

No industry will request govt to levy taxes on their products. Local manufacturers requested govt to impose tax on 1800cc and above car as car being sold above 1799cc are representing under 5% of total local manufactured cars.

Honda Atlas would be doomed if the taxes were applied on 1700cc and above cars as Civic will take biggest hit in terms of sales impact.

Am a govt employee, a forced tax payer and a filer. My toyota Altis 1.6 was invoiced and despatched on 5th Mar 2019. Reached dealership at Lhr today, i.e 8 Mar 2019. Now dealership is telling me that car has been put on hold by Indus as my filling status has become inactive. And strangely, it did has. That is so strange. I checked my status 8 days back and i was filer. Pata nahi suddenly how i became non filer. Pakistan main sab chalta hae. Am sure i would be filer on 5th March as well, otherwise i don't think Indus would have invoiced and despatched the car. Now dealership says they will send back the documents to Indus. Anyone have any idea what's happening?

Now am not sure how many days would FBR take to settle this stupid issue. Considering this, what are the chances Indus would cancel my car when it has already been delivered at dealership too?
