Only good and reliable car in 10th generation is Altis 1800.
Albeit a gas guzzler.
1.3 and 1.6 too many issues.
Most problematic is 1.3 engine electronics.
Never consult a mechanic.
Go to the dealership directly.

Wasn't talking about reliability, it's a Corolla no worries there, was talking about the drive and the overall experience

Why do owners face compressor, steering rack and electronics issues.

My father drives a 10th Generation PreFacelift (OLD LIGHTS) 1.3 purchased zero meter has clocked 170-175,000 kms

Alhamdulillah no issues what so ever.

-We have changed Clutch plate / Pressue plate once
-Spark plugs Twice or thrice
-Brake pads maybe 2 times
-Routine Service
-Strict 5000 kms Oil changes
-Major problem i have been facing is Suspension bushes (have got that done atleast 3 to 4 times
-One set of front Shock absorbers

-Still drives on 5W40 Synthetic Engine Oil

-Once radiator hose broke, Got it changed refilled Coolant, Still runs on Coolant.

Drives like a charm (170,000 Km) Got her third set of tires Yokohama Blue Earth GT.

Yes changing gears in harder then it is in our WagonR, But the car is wonderful.

We also faced the AC Compressor Issue, Since its a common problem in this generation, But since i got it replaced with Dumba compressor it hasnt given any trouble.

PS : Once it started heating, We got a new fan, Still problem didnt get solved, later got to know the thermostat Valve was Jam. (replaced it now its running good again)

You yourself have mentioned issues.
Like you said that dumba is more rigid.
There are quality problems in this car such as suspension bushes and compressor etc.
Don't worry.
2009 was also THE WORST model year Corolla in USA.

Everything i have mentioned is over 11 years of ownership.

Any other car of this league would probably have had more things gone wrong. I dont believe any thing is beyond routine maintenance.

Things to go wrong with 9th Generation dumba.

The AC coil was a pain in the back. The entire dashboard comes off to repair it.

It probably has the worst seats in its class.

Worst leg space (Front and back)

The car is plain feature less, Even Altis didnt have alloy rims in alot of years.

Brakes have been a menace on this model.

The problem with bushes is present in dumba aswell.

I am not defending 10th Generation over 9th Generation.

But 10th is better then 9th, and 11th is better then 10th.

Yes plastics quality has gone down.

Even a 2002 9th Gen Corolla has better quality dashboard then a 2005/2006 Corolla 9th gen.

I drive with the driver seat at full back. If I tilt the back anyone sitting in the back seat isn't sitting comfortably.

I'm 5'8" that means a 1 inch difference in legs for someone my height and urs but my legs are longer so prob in a similar situation, but I find the front to be okayish, ofcourse no where near current models, i def no longer fit in the rear seat and i find the 9th to be more of a 4 seater than a 5 seater

10th Generation has more localization, Maybe some quality issues, But it is more or equally reliable then the Dumba Corolla.

10th was obviusly designed after keeping 9th flaws in mind.

Yes.
By having issues of its own.
IMHO, 9th gen brakes and 10th gen compressor are at par with each other.

Mine? That's an '04 rose metallic se saloon with the front fenders of a thai corolla, the front bumper of a Singaporean corolla, he engine from Japan , and the gearbox from an xli/gli. I call it "Frankenstein". Do not underestimate Frankenstein tho that car is 100% mechanically fit

Waisay I dont agree on Front/Rear leg space issue. Its ample only issue is with large hump in the middle baaqi rear space theek hai . I am 6'1 mujhay issue nahi hota tu kisi ko nahi hona chahiyeh
