Toyota corolls 2.0D 2c engine overheated

Aoa pakwheelers..i recently bought toyota corolla 2.0D 2001 model with 2C diesel engine, as i have kept same car earlier so was aware of some maintenance things. So today i changed timing belt as i dont know previous owner would have changed it or not as the car is 124,000 on clock genuine and was in use of that very ist owner who kept it quite well…
But radiator wasnt very clean so i today serviced its radiator and thermostate valve wasnot working so bought another kabuli and changed thermostat valve, as i went out of mechanic shop car started overheating, i drove it to my home nearby but it overheated upto H in that temp guage…my guess is that new thermostat valve isnt working it remained closed

I will remove that out tomorrow

My question is that do i need to worry about engine or headgasket now? Or shall i remove that faulty t-stat and it will be ok??
Pls some expert enlighten me

Check for oil and coolant mixing in radiator.If u see both in radiator then it's gasket.faulty otherwise no need to worry as 2C is very durable engine.Check the thermostat valve before buying by pouring hot water on it to see it's function otherwise it's bad.

I havent added coolant yet so its simple water in thermostat…i started engine it starts in half sulf…but it got overheated upto H so thats why i am worried as t-stat was blocked…and shall i put another t-stat or not???..’

And how much it costs nowadays for 2c engine gasket repair, any rough idea?

Did you install the thermostat the right way? Was air purged from the cooling system?

Mechanic installed the thormistat in its location and no air was purged from cooling system…hust removed radiator and fit it after cleaning…but heat guage went all the way to H…now car is starting normal but do i have to worry about gasket??
Will remove that faulty thermostat today
What else should i do kindly enlighten me…

The thermostat has a jiddle/dudder valve which has to be located at top position while installing, and then the system is purged of air while engine idles and warms up.

Sounds like you visited a moron who is stuck in the 1950s where he assumes that radiators need to be dismantled to be cleaned, while completely forgetting that the engine also has cooling channels.

Yes exactly he was a moron…just figured out thermostat valve was working but that moron put a plastic shopper in that pipe while radiator was dismantled so that dust cant go inside that pipe to engine and that moron forgot to put out that plastic shopper…thermostat os perfectly working checked in boiling water now

And how can we purge out air from the system? As that person is clueless about this..

Update:-
Thermostat valve was ok, put it again, mechanic was like “saab ye na lagao garmya any wali hai masla bana dyge” but i insisted and now thermostat valve is working, fan isnt auto yet as switch wasnt availble, will source it tomorrow so then fan will also be on auto in sha Allah
As i previously kept same 2.0d with 2c engine so t-stat and auto fan gave me very good performance even in hot weathers, before auto fan its average was 16 and after fan auto it easily gave18-19
So now in this car will see in sha Allah in coming days

Isn't new one available in market? Install a new one. Also replace water with coolant.

janab you are acting weird. sir when you are wise enough to access internet and trace the issues, diagnose and fix the issues. why are you paying attention to ustaad who does not know a bit basic why thermostat is needed in engine.

Many engines share similar or rather same parts.
Search for the part no. Of your thermostat. Then look for it according to part number.
