That coz a lot of ppl r still scare to own diesel cars due to maintenance cost and reliability, remember the famous old 80-90 pajero was diesel turbo used to be great in those time but since the newer diesel engine came into mkt which was disaster due to bad diesel fuel in Pak, nowadays we are getting better diesel euro 2 so hopefully new diesel engine will be back in Pakistan and i hope it comes in cars as well, only downside is cost of diesel is 98.6rs/L.

As someone once said to me, "If you're buying a car, and wondering how much it will sell for after 3-4 years and wondering how much you'll lose on selling it, it might be good to consider whether you're ready to buy the car or not." When you can afford a Fortuner - be it Petrol or Diesel - spend your time enjoying it... not worrying about the facelift model or the market demand or anything else.

Above all, do what makes you happy.

more taxing on diesel, in Pakistan diesel consumption is more than petrol.

I think a 4*2 does not support the toughness and muscle of the fortuner and just makes it feel very bad. Trust me for many people 4*4 is the reason to buy Prado,land cruiser or fortuner.They all are big heavy Suvs and for me(and for many others) 4*4 is a big miss for the new fortuner.I was shocked to see Fortuner 4*2 hi on the Toyota website.Nevertheless for all 4*4 fortuner owners at 5.2 or 5.4m it's just happiness for what u got.

I KNOW FORTUNER IS Great but let's be honest we Pakistani buyers do want it to compete with other great Suvs like Ford endeavour and Skoda kodiaq both are sadly not available in Pakistan but are available in India.Moreover we would also love to have a locally assembled Prado which should cost around 7.5m TX and 9.5m TZ so we can finally see a price cut.Even though Prado is a bit more comfy and soft but the price hike on the basic used model TX(3.0m) is very hard to justify so pls Toyota start assembling cars like Land cruiser and Prado. And Ford pls build a plant in Pakistan.

In India, Ford sold 9,450 passenger cars in January and exported 13,253. That makes total of 22,700 sales in a month. Total car sales in Pakistan were just 23,000 (India 281,000).

We are a tiny market compared to India. The maximum we can get is Pakistan allows import from India and we get Indian Ford Endeavour with high price tag. I don't think anyone will be setting up factories here to export to other countries. India is becoming a hub for manufacturing. Just yesterday I went to buy solar system and the sales manager was proudly marketing new technology batteries made in India, which he imported from Dubai.

We have seriously lagged behind India in almost every aspect. Our exports are declining year after year, while imports are increasing. We are nosediving into bankruptcy. Recent rupee devaluation is proof. I just hope we don't enter hyper inflation.

Sales of cars in Pakistan is around 200,000/- cars annually

I just checked PAMA website . Pakistan produced /sold 19000/- cars in january so the volume is pretty much same for Pakistan and India

You are mixing Ford sales with total numbers. Your numbers are also incorrect. That figure does not include SUV sales including Honda BRV and Hilux Revo.

Pakistan Car Sales - January 2018 = 21,000
India Car Sales - January 2018 = 281,000

Pakistan Car Sales - Year 2017 = 213,000
India Car Sales - Year 2017 = 3,175,000 (3+ million)

India sells 1400% more cars than us, while their population size is 550% more than us. So they definitely sell a lot more cars per person than us.

These are only domestic sales numbers. India exports over 500,000 vehicles per year. We export none.

The 4*2 is definitely a major blow. I dont know why this decision was taken. To lower weight and increase fuel average?

The Auto trunk opener has also been removed from the petrol variant, as well as some other cosmetic lamps?
I mean whats the deal with that.

If a 4*2 variant was being launched, then the other options should have remained the same.
It surely does not justify the price increase.

Think they wanna promote diesel for one reason or the other....it might have to do with excess 1GD production globally and a requirement to sell it max.
