Hi, so I was studying specs for the fortuner varients in different countries and I noted that all the automatics among themselves, and the manuals among themselves have the same gear ratios, however the "final drive ratio" depends on wheather its diesel or petrol varient.
This is also the reason for different "creep" speeds when the automatic car is moving without accelerator (petrol creeps slower than diesel)
What it practically means is that the engine peak torque output of roughly 250Nm for petrol and 450Nm for diesel is not directly comparable for performance, because the final drive ratio is different.
In other words for comparison sake, one of the numbers may be altered by 20-30% according to the "final drive ratio" to get a closer performance oriented figure...
