Toyota Fortuner to be assemble in Pakistan

^ btw people who have driven the Vigo champ claim it not to be at all under powered, They feel its actualy better to handle is doesnt has wheel skid that is there in the Thai model.

The only thing that bothers me is that y still no spy pictures, The cars are made and ready for delivery since August last year. I hope they dont delay it further.

How can you say it's ready since August, 2012? Why would they wait for almost 8 months to launch it? Even testing and other stuff shouldn't take more than 2 months once it's in production.
Anyway the bottom line is specs and the price. Specs are somewhat confirmed but not the price. This model will fail or pass on the basis of price. If it's priced too high then enthusiast like us will not buy it and will only remain a status symbol not an every day utility car.

^ The launch of a product can be delayed because of several reasons, Distribution, Advertisments, marketing, budget constraints and other things, Im still not sure but the this was some uri uri news as the launch was expected in October 2012, But it was somehow delayed.

I remember a friend visited Indus motors plant in 2006 and he saw some 2.oD SE variants parked in 100s, He came to me and told me i was like nae bhae essi koi gari nae hai bla bla we had a long debate over it. But in late 2007 they outleashed the 2.OD Special Edition.

Since they need to supply a unit or 2 units at every dealership before the launch date in every city, They need to be pre-equipped with display units, They obviusly wouldnt start production at launch.

So atleast first batch would have been out for RND and issues faced by the first production run.

has anybody noted the interior color for Vigo champ is totaly changed, last time i checked it was plain grey, yesterday i went on the Indus website and its grey beidge with plastic/Wooden tirms.
@Mani, the target market is people who are actualy considering buying a vehicle in that price range, many people didnt buy the Vigo champ just because of its wagera image in Pakistan. Many people i know want to buy it but are reluctant not to buy it just because of the wadera culture associated to it.

Hence the target market are thoose people, adding brand new car freaks who wouldnt buy a used car at any cost, third kind who would change their minds from buying a Accord/Camry or a basic C class they would opt for a more power ful localy servicable Toyota SUV.

And yes @everybody, the engine isnt the same as of Vigo Champ since what ive known is that its a Petrol A/T transmission. 2700cc (still a rumour)

Since all colors are avalible in Vigo champ, Then why not in Fortuner? If Fortuner is supposed to be a highend thing in Pakistan, Then why only 2 colors? In case of imported cars the 2 color strategy is some what understandable. But still lets hope for the best.

About the interior since they have changed it for Vigo, Im guessing the quality isnt going to be any better for Fortuner, Only that it would be same beidge/Grey like in Vigo.

Sirf color change hua hai not the plastic, On internet even the previus one looked better, I still wont comment unless i see the real thing.

got the msg from Toyota, they r going to display at the PC hotel to selected customer on saturday Feb 16th, price is 4.8m....i hope it wont be disappointment btw its 2700cc petrol

as for vigo, my cousin own local vigo champ auto n i owned thai vigo petrol 2700cc.....we ve driven each other vigo.....i agree bout the underpowered of local vigo but theres enough torque n it goes smoothly in traffic....best for local vigo champ its worth it in 3.4m even cheaper than my thai vigo 2008 model

Ok, how do we see Fortuner in PC? Just walk in or is restricted, invite-only thing? Is this news even confirmed? Any idea about timing? I would love to see it.

Yeah, I am also walking in. Can someone confirm the timing and the place/hall in PC?
I also did some research on prices. If you convert the price of 2.7L model in Thaidland and India to Pak rupee it's around 4.2 million. So 4.8 million would be quite high. Should be in 4.2 to 4.5 million range.

PC is a big hotel and we should know the hall at least instead of walking and asking around. I think they might be doing it in outside canopy (shahi khema) since it will be difficult to bring cars down stairs in crystal and other halls.
Can someone please get a 100% confirmation on the event and Venue?
Don't forget to bring your cameras and post the pictures.

you should walk in.i would and suggest they lower it to match indi atleast. we can have an impact if several people , potential customers are saying that

I doubt IMC is going to listen at this stage. I am sure it's already decided. For Fortuner my limit is 4.5 million. If it's 4.8 then I'd really have to consider my options. It's not that I can't spend more but is it worth it? I'd rather spend 6 million on Prado.
