Toyota Grande CVT Gear Problem

I am driving vitz for 5years and odo is 86k... I didn't change CVT till now but I do have its inspection by 3S.. and they say it is not burnt and color and quantity is ok.. manager said that in pak gari we change CVT at 40k service. But @haseeb.basharat u r right

I hope you never inspect Ford Mercon LV or Mazda FE ATF or ZF lifeguard8 ATF

colour was never a benchmark and with the ones mentioned above, they are weird

Mercon LV turns purple brown in 500 miles and remains like that. Mazda FE is blue and ZF LG8 is tinted green. - both change to one shade darker after 1000 miles and remain like that.

Toyota WS is tinted a shade lighter than usual - it becomes brown after 10 or 20000 kms and remains like that - yet still is perfectly usable.

Bro its 2017 model car just 2 years and 50k on odo ,
Well tonight i flushed the system following that pw thread , oem way to change cvt fluid of grande***

Approx extra 0.5L was poured as compared to Previous Quantities (Drains and refills) ,

After the process completed , Also performed pressure calibration and Memory reset ,

The SLS high and low temp is also improved ,
It shows 3.5 on high and 0.6 mpa on low.
High one is little better then before ,
Will test drive tomorrow and share you Details.

The worst part of this all scenario , 2000kms ago when i changed cvt oil by chamber method , The mechanic didnt adjusted level on 35 40C and after that change i took car on 1000km northern trip with fully loaded car and luggage.
It was performing fine there but As soon as i got back to Lahore it started giving that jerk. I also used M mode in Uphill and downhill drive (Half breaks and half Gear stopping) Didnt abuse Tried best to drive carefully.

the change procedure is very easy - but still you only get half or less than half of oil out of transmission.

The critical parts in this are

new filter and gasket
setting level correctly.

you washed the filter, which is not good. I would suggest to buy a new filter for the next drain and fill.

some manufacturers say CVT is filled for life

whether is fails at 40,000 kms or 100,000 kms doesnt matter as they literally say "YES SIR THE LIFE IS OVER"

I have a JATCO JFE011E in my Jeep; the workshop manual suggests CVTF replacement at 96000k if used under load i.e. Towing, Taxi etc and if not, change it at 192000km. This makes it pretty much life time..

Bro after level correction and calibration the jerks arw slightly less on acceleration but braking effect is still too much as compared 2000km ago.

Now should i drive the car like this without any worry? With slight jerks on acceleration on slow speeds and during braking at 40 speed.

Can it cause more damage to gear box? If i keep on driving like this?
Is there possibility that the belt slips and causes jerks and if this is the case so then what to do next? On driving the belt doesnt seem to slip no sound or feeling that engine or tyres are not well connected.

Once I installed ngk laser iridium plugs in my car. They misfired and cvt went haywire, gave jerks even at 100km/h. I installed original plugs again after like 500kms and it was fine.
How is that possible?

Jerks at 40km/h are normal. I guess you have started noticing them just now. All corolla cvt gives jerk at 30-40km/h. Hard Brake your car at 60-80km/h. If rpm increases then its deceleration sensor is working otherwise its not working. Reset all sensors of cvt then. Make it relearn its values. Do not reset and just park the car. Drive for at least 30minutes after reseting so that it can relearn.

Nothing like that. Its normal functioning.

The belt never slips, the jerk is from the torque converter clutch.

Yes calibration and values were reset yesterday after fluid level correction , i will ve posting the results ans differences tomorrow.

Thats good to hear , should i get the axles checked? I read somewhere bad axles can Also cause jerks like the one i am experiencing.

And bro i am driving this car since more then 1 year and did 30K kms on it , Never ever experienced this situation and a single jerk unless i made mistake to change its oil

Yes Thank God Technical Enough to do that all stuff with my own hands , Flushed oil at home the oem way. 7 days ago i didnt knew about techstream and after alot of research on internet was performing calibration like a pro and also comparing before and after values

But at the same time Careless enough that i didnt make sure the temp of fluid when got cvt fluid refilled after chamber opening and messed up the cvt ://

Oh okay , So low level of oil may have damaged that clutch ? Is there any way to fix it or replace it?
I have very good resource in china , Found some companies supplying these parts for k313 , If the replacement can kill these jerks i will take no time to place that part in our consignment from china. It will cost v Cheap as compared to buying from here. Should i go for it? If no

The torque converter clutch is inside the converter and there is no facility in Pakistan that has a torque converter welding machine. Its not damaged in your case as damage would literally make the whole car judder very badly.

The "slack take up" on starting off is the clutch applying and similarly the forward lunge on release of accelerator is it deapplying, this is set quite rough in corolla to get maximum fuel economy.

There is a software update to completely remove this, you lose about 2 km/lit as the transmission slips more than required. I doubt the dealer showrooms in Pakistan even know of this.

Anyway, I wouldnt lose too much sleep on it. However i would definitely get the srs recalibrated to set the acceleration sensor properly. It changes the drive dynamic a lot.
