4.0 engine is not popular in any market. Its the best configuration but probably represents just 2 or 3% of overall sales of all the jeeps/vans in which it is offered along with diesel and 2.7 variants. In some countries 4.0 sells a lot such as UAE and USA. I think in Pakistan it makes more sense than other markets due to duty structure, as it will make 4.0 Fortuner cheaper and better option than imported Prado 2.7.
As for Diesel, the trend varies from country to country. In Pakistan, petrol is preferred due to noise and horror stories about diesel injector failure etc. 2TR is a rock solid petrol with zero complaint.
