For starters, check for blown fuses (engine bay + dashboard). Search for this error on YouTube pertaining to your civic.

Civic X Eng Check Light P2118

Hi I am presently in Skardu and own a Civic 2017. A month ago while driving, car eng check light alongwith VSA light came on. The car went into fail safe mode with high RPM and low speed. Took the car to local mechanic and he somehow removed the error code P2118. The car drove fine but suddenly one morning it reappeared. Just like him , maybe relay problem as well. Change your relay supping current to your ecu.

Check both fuse boxes for blown fuses (the one in the engine bay + inside the dash). Good thing you've already checked the throttle body / pedal. My car had a faulty relay (picture attached) which caused the entire issue - this prevented power from reaching the ECU. If this still doesn't help, I would recommend checking the continuity of all fuses even if they physically appear to be fine. Check if you car has had a rodent infestation lately and if any wires have been chewed. Lastly, where…

The grey relay as shown in this picture had to be replaced in my case. You need a skilled electrician to diagnose this as there could be multiple reasons causing this error.
