My car needs fully synthatic, as long as the book says

Brother mind sharing which car do you own? which says to only use fully synthetic exclusively?

Since, as far as my limited knowledge is concerned, in owners / users manuals of most cars, usually engine oil grades / viscosity are mentioned, with API, ILSAC, ACEA, etc. ratings.

Choice of fully synthetic VS Semi Synthetic VS Mineral is the choice of the car's owner, as fully synthetic is costly, and mineral oil is the cheapest.

What problems may occur due to Mineral Oil?

While staying in the same engine oil grade / viscosity, like 10w-30, I think problem to koi nai ho gee, however, being mineral, the molecules will not be uniform (they are uniform in fully synthetics). Then, being mineral, it will be cheapest, and requiring early drain intervals. Detergents will not be that great / aggressive, as are in fully synthetics, etc.

Drain interval of a fully synthetic oil cannot be compared with that to mineral.

Fully synthetic has the max. drain interval in fully synthetic VS Semi Synthetic VS Mineral.

Ok thanks. I thought this API ILSAC GF5 stuff was for fully synthatic. I will surely switch to Mineral 10W30 as my interval is already 3k mileage with fully synthatic 5W40. During this interval, I still need one top-up of 0.75L (I buy 4L every time).
So, CALTEX Havoline 10W30 is fine? I am afraid I won't get genuine oil easily. Do they offer online purchase? Or should I buy from CALTEX filling station?

NOPE. Caltex / Havoline 10w-30, fully meets this criteria, despite being mineral based engine oil.

OK. You can switch to 10w-30 by Caltex / Havoline, and change after every 3,000 Kms +/-, with genuine oil filter. If not available, then Lippon can be considered.

It might be possible that situation has improved now, and pumps do not sell counterfeit products, however, when I was a student in UET Lahore, we used to have our Caltex / Havoline pump for refuelling of buses (and it served general public too).

Once I went there to buy engine oil for my bike, and asked about the authenticity of the product, the guy there said that we, being authorised Caltex / Havoline pump, get offers from many vendors to just replace their engine oils with theirs, and they also offer huge profit margins / bribe, etc., but they do not do it.

So, if such were the offers 10-15 years ago, such offers might exist today too, and some zameerfroosh might be getting tempted to them even today, despite all strictnesses, etc.

Just go to https://www.caltex.com/pk/find-us/locators/find-distributor.html and see, which distributor suits you.

Go to that distributor, and buy oil with complete peace of mind, and also at discount too (if they do not give automatically, do ask / insist for discount. For sure they will give).

caltex is having no more pumps. all caltex pumps taken over by total. caltex has now exclusive oil shops in many cities. details are on their site.

car is 92000 kms driven
running on 175/60-13 shoes
older Passo (2004-09) were 4 speed auto

giving 11 km/ltr average within City (manually calculated) (with full AC and occasional idling) , meter showing 11.8 kpl

The average seems fine if you are driving it in peak traffic hours and congested areas.

20W50? Brother please change it asap. Shift to any brand with 0w20 or 5w30 viscosity, fully synthetic oil. 20w50 is poison for this engine, get rid of it asap.

No matter how old the engine is or how many kms you have clocked on it, keep using the OEM recommended oil grade.

Thick oil for old engines is a myth formulated by our local ustadjees. Don't fall prey to it.

Mileage is fine. Vitz Passo gives 10-12km/l within normal city traffic i.e. stop n go, congestion. On mostly empty n smooth Islamabad roads it can give above this too.

On highways should be above 16km/l at 100-110-120speeds.

I have passo 2007 with 116000Km on odo, I'm using 0W-20 Shall oil 1st time, previously using 20W-50, tyre size 175-70-13
In city without ac fuel avg is 14-15Km/L
In city with ac 12-13Km/L
On motorway at 120 speed without ac 17-18Km/L
On motorway at 120 speed with ac 15-16Km/L
Above avg on motorway is with 04 passengers
After using 0W-20 ,fuel avg is very much increased and car becomes very light
