Toyota Surf 2005 fuel average problem (2.7lL petrol, VVTi 2TR)

helloe .....friends ... im having problems with my surf 2005 2.7 L VVTI petrol 2TR Engine.......... it gives an average of 4.5 km/L to a maximum 4.8 km/L ...... every thing other then this is fine........... ive changed the plugs , air filter , gear oil, but no remedy..... it has also been tested on a IT TESTER by toyota .....and no ERROR....but no clue ..............any guess ..........?? whats the problem ................ive heard surf 2.7 vvti gives an average of 6 to 7 kms/L ....... ??

Bhai iss ki yehi average hy in he k bary main kaha jata hy k ye Elephant hain jin ko khareedna tu asaan hy but Rakhna i mean Afford kurna Mushkil hy. koi baat nahi dil pe na loo punjabi main kehty hain na k agar oontoon se Yaari rakhni ho tu Drwazy bary rakny party hain.. oont mean Camel.

how much driven? Probably O2 sensor is old and aging. It will give an error only when O2 is comletely shot and does not give any input. It surely affects consumption though if it i is weak.

Mr saeed its average meter shows its giving an average of 6.3 to 6.8/9 per litre... it has done 115216 kms I bought it on 98 since that day its giving this low average.... some body said to me tht It can also be a injector prbm ...what do u say...??

The v6 version does almost 6km/ltr
2.7 shld do better thn that.
If the suv is running rich it might be O2 sensor problm like spectra claimd

Spectra has valid point a kapoot O2 sensor need replacement to get better economy.

It is the same petrol engine as in Prado 2004-5 5 door auto transmission 2700. Fuel average shall be 8 - 8.75 km/litre. in city & 9.8 to 10.7 on highway. Surf is lighter in weight and if not the same it shall do better.

please share maintenance history for the vehicle since purchase

Plugs changed 103000kms .... air filter changed 2 times ... current air filter purchased on 112000kms frm toyota company .... how can u say it can be a oxygen prbm ? Pls share ?

Bro it sure is oxygen! They all told you about the oxygen sensor which manages the oxygen of the car!

O2 sensor is fitted in exhaust manifold. it send signal about oxygen quantity in exhaust gases based on which fuel to be thrown by injectors is changed.

Seems like you are too heavy on the accelerator!!!
Try driving it on lower RPMs.

difference is of Normal and under power engines in both variants
