I would like to share my experience of 1KR-FE rebuild, being done by Rahman Autos.
I purchased the car few weeks ago, and is the case with most of the Japanese cars, the check engine light was on- the culprit? You got it right! the Catalytic converter.
So I did a quick search (love how Google makes life easier) and found Mr. Atta (Rahman Autos). I went to this guy with high hopes and believe me, he was even better than what I anticipated. I have been living in islamabad for over 14 years now and I have never come across a mechanic so competent and knowledgable and plus all this, the guy is EXTREMELY down to earth and humble.
So, coming back to the topic, Mr. Atta ran few quick diagnostics (smoke test, compression test) and advised that I should go for an engine rebuild.
We had a candid little discussion over why this would be a better option as compared to a full swap, 15 mins into the discussion and I was sold on the idea of having it rebuild. The guy was just fantastic with his logic and knowledge, especially of the 1KR-FE engine.
Today I have handed over the car to him and I am expecting it back by Thursday (Inshallah).
I will keep on sharing regular updates as I receive them from Mr.Atta.
I hope the ones who do understand & love their cars, especially Vitz would love this.
