Toyota Vitz 2014/17, Engine oil

Hi guys, I have Toyota vitz 2014/17, 1.0, 50,000 km driven and i always take it to Toyota motors for periodic maintenance. I am not a car enthusiast and don't know much about the engine oil variants and what they do to the engine but I realized that toyota workers have been putting SAE 20w-50 oil in my car regularly. Now i wonder if its suitable or not because I've been getting a poor mileage like 10km/l in the city. Please suggest me what to do to make things work here.

My suggestion is as follows;

Use original Toyota Air and Oil Filters.
As your car is over 50k kms Try switching to 10w-30

yes i use the original toyota filters. I was thinking of switching to 5w-30 as it is the recommended one. What difference will it make?

Switch to 5W30 SHELL ULTRA.
I do t know why those mechanics put 20W50, that's too harsh for your car's engine.

Switch asap brother. 5w30 is really suitable for paki environment. Ur drive will become smooth and mileage will show good improvement. U have following options in local

Shell HX7 5w30 semi synthetic
Total Quartz 9000 full synthetic (best oil)
PSO carrient 5w30 full synthetic

All of these are brilliant but ive tested total quartz 9000 and found it to be the best.

You had the newer gen 1kr engine in your vehicle. Immediately flush your old engine and switch back immediately to 0W 20 engine oil only.

I repeat 0w20 only you would love the revival of power and economy and performance of your vehicle.

Remember I recommend the viscosity on my working experience on these engines and their performance analysis oF our road conditions.

Remember always check your engine health first before switching to oem viscosity.

Please read the owner manual of new gen vitz and read it carefully. 0w20 is recommended all over the temperature range till 50degree Celsius.

Ok you should perform smoke test by removing the oxygen sensor mounted on top of catalytic converter. Start the engine maintain the engine rpms higher by pressing the throttle till mid range and observe the smoke if brown smoke emits from that hole that indicates too much soot formation in CC and catalytic converter.
If the smoke has a blueish whitish colour then the oil rings are depleted and you should stick to the 20w50 oil viscosity.

If no smoke is present other then brown smoke you are good to shift back to oem viscosities

Old gen 2SZ which are available in the scrap market are pulled from the vehicles till 2009 model so if the engine is perfectly healthy then 5w30 is the right choice.

No w20 is not a recommendation for 50 degrees. The recommendations are per Japanese weather ane climates. In Pakistani u reach higher temperatures and the oil will burn sooner. However 5k change will be alright

And if this was the matter toyota would not use 0w20 in lx570 in Gulf countries.

20w50 is like you want to drink water and some one is feeding you pure honey instead of water glass

Lol. Yes i told him 20w50 is too much for the k series engine, but thats what he kept on buying from pso. Hence the 11kmpl mileage
