Please have a look at the sale figures of 1.6 Altis as compared to 'value to money' cars.

People generally dont want to spend too much on a Corolla. Those who want simply go for Civic.
1.6 Altis is one of the best options for those who dont want to spend too much on a Corolla and yet have a decently equipped car.

City is a different scenario.

I was looking for a comparison of Yaris and City because launch of Yaris has posed an interesting predicament for companies and govt organizations which previously used to give their executives 1.3 GLI.

Most of the govt officers have 1300 cc car entitlement. Previously they were enjoying 1.3 GLI. They didn't bother underpowered problem of GLI because these are usually chauffeur driven cars. Now they have been 'deprived' of the use of Corolla due to the launch of Yaris.

I know a govt organization which was about to book 200 units of GLI. Now they have 'forcefully' opted for the same number of Yaris cars. They had a choice between City and Yaris, but due to prior working arrangement with Indus they are buying Yaris. What I have heard is the entitled officers are not so happy about the decision, some of whom are perhaps inclined towards City.

But Yaris has had never be any kind of competitor of Corolla gli in comfort,style, road bumps crossing in Pakistan, reliability, spaciousness. In Yaris it seems that u r sitting in midiocar economical car which is not spacious and camel like height.
Corolla is best practical sedan in all kinds of roads of Pakistan. The land Lord's who on weekends go to village even use it for every such kind trip even have audiis n Merc in garages as not compatible for that purpose. I myself have used Corolla in rivers sand to mountain stones n fountains to motorway. It never let u bow.
Yaris ko Corolla ka saath khara karka tu daikhain chaha XLI ho , sit n drive u will feel that Yaris is a cheap stuff than Corolla even having gadgets trc vhc ha ........ N every person has own obsessions n if u have such then I would say that Yaris is better than hundai elentra n Altis 1.6 as cvt of Yaris is superior. N it is also better than Prius Alpha bla bla

Can anyone tell me why GLi Automatic was priced so similar to Yaris Ativ X 1.5? Obviously Yaris is the superior car on paper; it has alloys, multimedia steering controls, climatic control, Vrc, Hsa, a better speedometer, bigger engine, better transmission (considering fuel economy and smoothness). Shape is subjective so I won’t get into that. I am not trying to say that Gli 1.3 was priced similar to Yaris top of the line hence Gli is a better car; I am genuinely curious how is it possible? What am I missing? I really don’t understand. Sure, both are different segment cars but still it’s hard to wrap my head around their prices considering how many things Gli was missing.

Well, initially it was around 19 lac but due to dollar increase it reached 29 lac and as we all know, they will increase Corolla prices near to 45-46 lac when 12th gen. launches (even before that) and Yaris to around 35 lac due to their so called majboori of dollar increase. Jab dollar kam hota he tho kuch nai kartay magar jab zyada hota hai tho inn ko prices revise karna yaad aatin hain. Btw Yaris Ativ 1.5 CVT is clearly better than GLi handsdown except the exterior looks department.

Yaris is new and have more features

City is decade old and would be replaced soon by newer generation so the decision of Yaris.
When people will get it, they will enjoy it. TRUST ME

Bahi I don't understand this sentimental rhetoric. Are you trying to say yaris cannot go to villages. If you believe that then let me clear this up for you. I took my yaris to gaon and it performed really well. Road clearance was good enough to breeze over potholes and unproportional speed breakers. My parents were travelling with me and ride was comfortable enough for my father to sleep through entire journey. And to top it all off, economy of the entire journey was to die for.

Again am Not trying to bash any car here...... just want to convey facts to the potential buyers out there so that they can make an informed decision.

no gli auto closed at 27 when 1.5 was launched at 28.90... gli with own was for 29 in march...

Your answer is in the price list of Suzuki Alto, WagonR, Cultus.

All cars are priced over each other. For the price of Alto VXL you can find a WagonR, for the price of WagonrR AGS you can find a Cultus.

Corolla GLI AT last invoice price was somewhere around 28.70 (quoted from Carspiritpk).

Yaris GLi MT was launched some where around 3 or 4 lack cheaper then the Corolla Gli MT.

GLI MT discontinued at 27.70, Yaris GLI MT launch price was 2350 (difference 420,000 ADD Traction control)

Now, please listen to a totally unbiased view from me on this comparison:

I don't own either Corolla or Yaris, but I like both. Looks wise Corolla is a beautiful car as always. It is a sedan which everyone desires to keep; be it any age group, gender or social class. And features wise I like Yaris in 1.3 L segment. It competes with City in a befitting way. It competes with other JDM cars very well unlike previous GLI version (which had looks of Corolla only). Altis is a superb car and an established brand name, and Yaris is also set to do well in our market. It is already a success. If I were to buy a 1300 or 1500 cc new vehicle I would have certainly gone for Yaris. And if I had to purchase a 1.6 L car it had to be Altis.

What is the need to tear apart each other on personal choices???
