After seeing some invalid comparisons, let me please add a few
- Corolla (even XLi) is better than latest 2020 Alfa Romeo 4c sports car because Alfa doesn't have power steering - that
- Corolla (even baseline) is better than 2019 Ford F-150 because F150 (baseline) doesn't have power windows.
- Corolla (even baseline) is better than TRAMONTANA-R since tramontana only has single seat
- Corolla (even baseline) is better than Lexus since corolla has better top-speed.
Jokes apart,
I myself was an owner of corolla 2018 GLi and sold it and booked Yaris Ativ, and have driven both - I also have shared my experiences in this very thread thread - both of testing Yaris & experience of selling Corolla GLi-MT compared to GLi-AT.
My reasoning for going for Yaris - you need to tell people that you've new corolla/civic/city - but for Yaris, it speak for itself and since it's better in every aspect, this makes it logical choice.
Yaris comparison with corolla doesn't make sense. It's like comparing turbo-660 with Civic-X since turbo-660 offers more gadgets. Doesn't make sense.
Here's the baseline difference, IMO, though ...
- Toyota will always be more comfortable (and safe, at least in PK) than Honda in B/C/D/E segment, period.
- Honda will always be more agile than Toyota B/C/D/E segment, period.
Having said that, Yaris is better than all of it's competition at the moment which makes it superior, whether be it reliability, features, size, comfort, safety, transmission, gadgets, cabin quietness, build quality. milage or staying up-to-date with the international market. Period.
Someone sold Yaris and went for Grande - their reason didn't make sense to me (no offense) as you can see it in showroom and test drive it and social-media is full of reviews / comparisons. It's like going for 7/5 years old Merc instead of new civic-turbo since merc is more robust. But I also understand his perspective in a unique way - it's all about priorities.
