I don't own a Yaris, kept a city for a short time, and currently driving a civic. I loved city for fuel economy and power, hated it for its "Bench" suspension. As normal user I don't care if this phatta type suspension help city remain smooth at 160+ not my concern. A normal user concern is comfortable ride which can save his back.
I really enjoy driving my civic on Motorways but all fun comes to an end as soon as I exit from Sial Interchange. Not everyone is driving at Motorways all the time, those who travel to center or south Punjab or any other part with broken roads need a comfortable suspension and ride quality won't give a damn if Vtec is more advance than VVTI.
About stability, I drove WagonR around 155-160 Km/hr after salt range for 20 mins, to my surprise never felt like swinging or flying, If a wagonr can handle well at that speed I am sure Yaris can manoeuvre same in much better way,
I am not implying that Honda made bad cars, their cars are excellent, well built and they definitely build more refined and reliable engines be it 1.3, 1.5 or 1.8. There are trade offs with every vehicle, just because we own something should not make us a blind lover of a particular vehicle or brand.
Now in City/Yaris segment - Yaris is new reality, City was good city car but its now new Mehran without any value to money or user comfort. Rest it's personal choice, no vehicle is perfect, everyone choose according to their requirement, budget and mindset.
