SECOND FEEDBACK
YARIS ATIV X 1.5 CVT
I shared my initial impressions earlier.
Yesterday, I traveled to Lahore and then back - LHE-SKT Motorway.
Car is pretty stable even at higher speeds ... even at 140 kmph it feels like you are barely cruising at 70-80...
Stock tyres are noisy at higher speeds.
My fuel average as per digital cluster was 13.2 km/l (while going to Lahore) - didn't exceed 120 kmph and RPM remained around 2.5K or below with eco light almost on throughout the journey.
On the return leg my fuel average was 11.0 km/l - mostly maintained speed at 140 kmph and RPM was around 3K. ECO light was still on almost throughout the journey.
(Using ECO Mode through out - I think the average will improve after 5K)
My return journey was after Isha prayers... I find that the headlights aren't very bright.. unless you are continuously using the beam ... the visibility beyond 100m max is poor and clearly sub-optimal. My previous ride Wagon R VXL had brighter headlights than Yaris.
The brightness of the meter cluster, multimedia console and climate control dims automatically when you turn on head lights... this is a good thing as it decreases the strain on eyes while driving and you can better focus on.the road.
The ambient light over the cup holders is too dim though and practically useless.
The handling and braking is very good.
Indus's decision not to provide back-light in windows, lock and unlock buttons etc is a real cheap move. Except for the driver side window button (which has a back light) you can't see a thing as that's the only button which is lit.
Thigh support is sub-optimal even on front seats. This causes fatigue.
I wished there was some way to reposition the arm rest... Don't know which idiot designed the layout/placement of central arm rest.
PS
If you are taking a left turn and there is a side road as well; you can't see the oncoming traffic on the side road as the C pillar completely blocks your view even if you move your head significantly and try to peek around the pillar. It's a serious safety issue. The visibility may be better if the driving seat is moved to the max. forward position but that's not feasible for taller people.
