This is because of the convenience that CVT offers compared to manual. The difference in fuel average is minimal and also you can drive CVT in manual and sports mode if you wish. Obviously CVT would be the more opted option. Those who select manual usually are die hard fans of manual transmission or don't want to pay the extra amount for a CVT.

You are right. However the question is whether 1.3 or 1.5 would have better average if driven by the same person.
People have reported better average for 1.5 CVT compared to 1.3 CVT.

If Manual Vs CVT are considered the usual belief is that manuals give better average. However with advancement and better CVT engines some CVT give better fuel average than their manual counterparts.

It is market dynamics. Full options models never sell in manual. Even if a person wants to buy a manual he would be inclined towards auto because Manual is not the most top level expensive trim that he can show off that i spent the max money. Yehi reason hai Grande mein manual khatam, Civic mein manual khatam. Rebirth and Reborn as people call them were not CVT but still manuals are seen once in a blue moon. End buyer resale ka soch k chor deta hai and buys CVT even if he does not want it.

Base models or middle trims mein manual still sells as there are many people who buy yaris/corolla beshak power steering power windows bhi nikal do hai tou corolla/yaris hi na so they always go for the cheapest variant regardless. Then there are people who don't have the budget to buy auto, then there are those who are die hard fans of manual and downgrade from a 1.5 manual to 1.3 manual cause resale. All these people make a decent amount of manual buyers

True but there is no one person who has driven both over a considerable amount of time to see which gives better mileage. Maybe 1.5 people drive easier as compared to 1.3 drivers thats why available figures say 1.5 is better in fuel cost or maybe there are more 1.5 owners on this forum as compared to 1.3 owners etc etc so many possibilities.

Yes power to weight ratio and engine capacity plays an important role as well, put a V8 in Yaris and great power to weight ratio but mileage will still be 6-8kmpl. There is a fine line for every car where that specific cc of engine performs best and lower cc would be underpowered and higher would be gas guzzler anyways. I have no idea what that line would be for yaris

My guess is 1.5 would be better on longer routes or areas with less traffic and open roads and 1.3 would be better in city and worse on long routes. Again it is my guess based on knowledge and experience, it may or may not be correct

Color makes a big difference. I booked Grey 1.5 ATIV X on 28 May, delivery was July but as of today car hasn’t even been invoiced. Those who booked after me in white already got theirs.

Sir, Not planning to change stock tyres. The are fine in my opinion. The car is pretty comfortable; handles well and tyres only seem noisy on very high speeds i.e. 120 kmph+

More annoying is the weird noise that comes when you move the car very slowly and partially press the brake... I have taken it to dealership; they say its normal and the sound is of ABS engaging and disengaging in quick succession...am not convinced though ... but there is only a single dealership in SKT. Will get it checked in Lahore.

Can anyone else test the same? Move the car very slowly in D or R and then partially press the brake paddle, release it and then partial press again....any high pitched clicking sound ?

Funny thing is when I took it to dealership ... no matter how many times a tried to reproduce the sound ... it never occurred once...

Any suggestion regarding the best dealership in Lahore?

It would ... but the car is already super comfortable.. You won't feel a thing inside even on shitty roads...

In SKT "Defence Road overhead bridge" is under construction for ages and the road beneath is an utter mess with as many ghaddas and potholes as you can ever imagine...yet you never feel a thing inside ... so I don't see a point in dishing out so much money on new tyres...

In all my previous rides; tyre change was the first thing I did after taking the car from showroom .. this time I am of the opinion that the stock variant is fine and I would inshallah rather spend that extra money on ceramic coating etc and getting the Car care products and other accessories.

I have a question. Does the Acoustic windshield comes in all variants or just in Ativ X? Apart from a bigger engine and climate control any other major frills that make ativ X apart from Ativ 1.3?

Do you use AC while car is stationary?
Mine gives 9.6 in city because i use AC while parked and drive with somewhat heavy foot. Otherwise on long routes it gives 15-16 on average speed of 120-130.

Actually my city is kind of rural area. That's why I mentioned average speed which is just 24 km per hour but yet it gives 11 km per litre with ac on all the time. On highway it easily gives 16 to 17 km. I am not at all disappointed by its fuel economy.

Hi everyone. Quick question about 1.5 CVT Ativ X. Does anyone feel a humming noise when the AC is turned on? I had the same issue with my Corolla Altis (2016) and Toyota said its compressor noise. Used the car for 5 years without AC issues.

Whenever I turn the AC off, the humming goes away so its definitely the compressor? Did you all get it checked from Toyota or left it as it is?
