People from Islamabad... please share feedback.. how the car handles Monal?

If it handles Monal easily then Babusar top should be good too.. at some spots... Monal Road is pretty steep...

Same is true for a few spots near donga galli/Changla galli where generally traffic is also blocked... its pretty steep and moving the car from a dead stop can be an issue..in rainy conditions..

I think if we switch to Tiptronic mode and drive on 1st and 2nd gear then it'll definitely perform better as seen from the video the guy switch to tiptronic mode and used paddle shifters to mimic torque converter based on pre set torque ratios (Fake gears)

Power of gear 2 is much less as compared to gear 2 of my previous manual wagon r. Initially I was reluctant to use gear 1 frequently but then I realized that you can go upto 20,30 km /hr while rpm still less than 4000 in gear 1. On steep heights only gear one will work.
U turns after crossing balakot are also steep. I can't say about babusar but I went through these turns easily.
One tip is to drive diagonally , I mean from left to right and back to right on steep heights provided you have space and less traffic. I used to drive my Mehran like this while reaching babusar top.

Tank was full with Hi octane from Islamabad and some gap was also filled in balakot with regular. Don't think feel issue

Anyone else ... please share your experience.. the car should be able to climb such steeps with even Sports mode.. if we have yo shift yo manual and that too in gear 1... then it will have issues later on when the car wears off and engine performance declines.

Not a Yaris user. I have Altis 1.6 auto. Recentally came from skardu, so i would like to share mine experience with auto.
I used/switched to manual mode, as it was easy to move, especially after Naran (coming from Lhr). I frequently used gear 1 & 2 having no issues. And by the way, auto "D"/"D4 was not working, as there are some very steep patches.
And the most important one; you would use gear "1" in most of the case while coming back to babusar top from Chillas city. It is a continous steep road (Car ka tarah nikaal dainay wali Charrhae). So gear "1" (manual) was used, No other choice.

Honestly I have seen a lot of Yaris on Babusar top last month when I was there before Eid, I hope not everyone is facing this issue

I drove on manual mode throughout the area. Performance was OK except on continuous steep patches. Actually I want to know if there is any issue with my driving style.

1.5 iz adequately powered , been to gilgit and didnt feel any trouble at all. There must be some other problem with the car.

A kei car handles that climb real good with a big load of people on board. The Yaris with a 1.5 liter engine just climbs up real easy.

Well I have taken my Yaris 1.5 to Upper neelum valley. Those who have been there can easily tell that its one of the most steep roads in Pakiatan from (though only 2-3km total from Keran) woth continuous steep incline and turn after turn. I went in triptronic and I had no problem whatsoever.

When I reached the top, there was a Yaris 1.3MT already standing there. They were 5 adults and they inquired me if I had any problem coming up as they really had a bad time. I think they must have some issue with their car.

I recently came back from Naran/Babusar Top etc and i think driving style matters a lot because i have a Yaris Ativ 1.3 CVT and it went up till babusar top pretty easily as i maintained my speed around 25-35 KM/H constantly even on steep turns and that is when I understood how important is the role of Traction Control/VSC because not for a moment I felt the car was getting out of control even at a speed of 30KM on sharp turns my car was totally under control and the next day i drove a honda city 1.3 Prosmatic and the tires were skidding on steep turns if my speed was above 25-30 but still it managed to climb uptill babusar. One more thing I noticed is that i could easily move a yaris from standstill and it would quickly gain moment when the rpm touched 3-3.5 whereas my city was really struggling in gaining momentum from a standstill and i had to make the rpm go till 5.5-6k to make the car moving. I also drove a cultus vxr (2019) on those roads and i felt that it climbed better than city maybe bcs of manual transmission and less body weight (except one issue i had was it was not handling really well bcs whenever i downshifted to 1st gear it would just skid here and there)

That's more like it ... For the love of my life I couldn't digest that a 1.5 would have a hard time negotiating these climb...

Yep ... driving experience in hilly areas matter a lot.. I have driven extensively in hilly areas even under snowy conditions and extreme steeps. (with tyre chains and wooden boards in the trunk)

Building and keeping momentum is critical in hill climb... its better to go back in reverse if the momentum breaks due to traffic etc instead of pushing the engine hard to start from a standstill at a steep...though it needs a lot of practice to let the car go in reverse at hairpin loops on a steep.

Very well said. Whenever I go to Monal, I always come across very good cars with 1.3 and 1.5 engines struggling to climb because of lack of momentum. Even more problematic is downhill driving on such roads, so many drivers heat up their brakes because of excessive braking and no engine breaking.

Which brings me to an important question - in one PW owners review, Suneel Munj said Yaris also has downhill assist but its not mentioned in the brochure. Does it have this feature?

This is great to know. You were driving on triptronic manual mode as well? What gears did you use in the Babusar climb? And more importantly, how did you manage the downhill drive? Did you use manual gears for that?

Hi everyone, Booked Activ X last week, toyota rawal told me that indus has priority delivery for bank alfalah thats why i booked with it on 1 year installment with alfalah. received PBO and it says delivery in August... when can i expect delivery? mid aug, late aug ya september
