People are selling Altis crustronic model 2013 2014 old shape for 21 lac to 24 lac
And old shape gli 1.6 ect for 18 lac to 22 lac.

With new arrival of yaris will there be a serious impact on prices of old cars??

I think it is. Yaris is at the start of its product cycle whereas Altis 1.6 (11th generation) is at its end. It may take around a year or so but eventually it will be replaced, whereas yaris is here to stay for 5 years at least. Besides goodies that come with Yaris far outweigh those of Altis's (Except Space), along with better fuel economy.

Prices of old cars will decrease consequent to the decrease in their demand. If a rational buyer has to choose between an old car and a new one(Within same price range), he will go for a new one. However if the prices of new cars increase then the demand of old cars will increase too resulting in higher prices.

very logical, if i have 23 lacs for example, i'd definitely gather a couple more bucks and go for the new yaris than a 6-7 years old used/abused car... lekin baat apki bi sahi hai, ye na ho Yaris hi 28-29 ki ho jaye : )

You are welcome to drive your car up to those miles, you car your choice.

However, replacing CVT fluid costs lesser than changing a transmission. Why take risk?

Follow your OEM recommended interval. And this one recommends even going earlier replacement of fluids

Quoting a non-OEM source isn't the right thing to do.

So, toyota says change CVT oil if heavy use of car (like towing) only after 60,000 miles = 97,000 KM. 2020 Corolla: Same for 2017 Corolla.

Subaru for its CVT transmission car says:

Automatic transmission oil (CVT-no scheduled service unless under
extreme conditions - refer workshop manual)

Basically, don't even change CVT fluid unless driving in extreme conditions (which means towing - or constantly slow like police patrol).

Saying "why take risk" is the wrong argument. And is an excessive overkill. People should follow the OEM indeed. Toyota Indus was pouring 20w50 oil in engines that are meant for 0w20 and 5w30. Nobody questioned them.

Again they are making people change CVT a bit too oil too early (I think 55,000km) ... but they should be followed.

Keep Altis if you are satisfied with it. Buying yaris is same as downgrading from civic to city aspire.

By looking at enthusiasm of my fellow pakwheelers , i am astonished that instead of getting normal daily driven cars such as Camry , Accord or Avalon or even basic corolla/civic which are used all over the world. We are so much happy to get a C segment entry level sedan with ugly looks.
No wonder how big 3 earned billions from our poor nation.

Here comes the true expert.

You may be able to buy a 6 million car, but majority cannot buy it, so do not spoil their excitement over a car that costs 2 million and not 5+ million.

If you know that we are a poor nation, then you should also know that 99% of the people cannot afford a 25,000 USD or above car.

An economy sedan like Civic and Corolla costs above 22-25k USD -> over 3.8 million PKR. Too much for PAK.

And you want people to sell their liver and kidneys just so they can buy an 70+ lakh Camry or Accord?? That is over 6 - 7 million PKR. Accord costs 42 lakh in IND - imagine over 80 lakh in PAK. That is a 'daily driver'.

There's not much money in PAK market. We are a poor nation with low buying power, especially in 2020.

May quick thoughts are:

• Various people, techs and dealership and website tell things which are just wishful thoughts- so I'll take all such things light.

• The change interval as many says can be 15,000 miles to 100k miles........So this means 15,000 miles is also there

• Let's take that 60k to 100k is correct .... I personally believe it will be very high in regular cars. If it's hybrid and if it does not used gearbox in routine then chance can be that it's mostly driven directly by motor so less usage and this longer change interval

• In USA dust and temp are generally low

• Aisin the transmission manufacturer recommends 20k km as change interval

Conclusion: you shouldn't generalize. I'll try to share the recommendation of AISIN (or may be someone share it) it clearly tells for its transmissions for 20,000 km or 2 years!

Nowhere in the world 15,000 miles is mentioned. Find me any authorized manual of a car which says change CVT oil at 15k miles.

Also the 'dust' and 'heat' argument is the same which people also use to pour gaarha tail of 20w50 or other thick viscosities in engines here. Extreme condition does not mean heat. It means towing.

PAK definition of extreme is wrong, nobody tows things here.

Many areas in the US have higher heat than PAK. Visit Arizona or vegas some day . Desert- dusty and heat. So the heat argument is also wrong. Even UAE has more heat and dust than PK.

Regardless, people should follow the OEM/manufacturer and not random sites on the internet.

No manufacturer says change CVT oil at 15k miles. Lowest is 55,000 KM / 34,000 miles by Indus Toyota.

You still haven't quoted any authentic figure from an OEM/manufacturer which says change CVT oil at 15,000 to 20,000 km.

I think we had agreed on this - stick to what your car maker says right? You can find hundreds of other sources, which will mention one figure and another. "dark fluid" does not mean change it right away, so the pic you posted is also wrong. Every oil gets dark after a few thousand km.

Let's talk about OEM/manufacturers. Can you quote something from Toyota etc? What do they say about changing CVT oil?
