Quoting a non-OEM source isn't the right thing to do.
So, toyota says change CVT oil if heavy use of car (like towing) only after 60,000 miles = 97,000 KM. 2020 Corolla: Same for 2017 Corolla.
Subaru for its CVT transmission car says:
Automatic transmission oil (CVT-no scheduled service unless under
extreme conditions - refer workshop manual)
Basically, don't even change CVT fluid unless driving in extreme conditions (which means towing - or constantly slow like police patrol).
Saying "why take risk" is the wrong argument. And is an excessive overkill. People should follow the OEM indeed. Toyota Indus was pouring 20w50 oil in engines that are meant for 0w20 and 5w30. Nobody questioned them.
Again they are making people change CVT a bit too oil too early (I think 55,000km) ... but they should be followed.
