Haha, so you're now going to such sources to prove your argument.

Bring one claim of 15-20k km from ANY modern car's service manual that is using CVTs today.

NOBODY in the world or any authorized workshop uses that picture that autophile posted. You think Toyota is stupid? Or their authorized service centers in US or elsewhere? even PK?

Listen. Nobody is forcing you to change early. Your car, your cvt, your money.

We are just sharing the info, not imposing it on anyone.

People have now multiple info and they can make their own choices.

Indus recommends CVTi oil to be changed at 55,000 kms or 2 years whichever comes first. Better safe than sorry.

Yes, but I thought we've agreed to agree on official numbers. I have quoted Toyota, Subaru etc. That's an authentic source.

What Indus Toyota says should also be followed in PAK which is 55,000 km or 2 years, not AISIN. Nobody follows AISIN's pic you posted anywhere in the world. They follow their car's service manuals.

Agree. My original point was to follow the schedule given by manufacturer/assembler because CVTs are not as robust or tolerant as a conventional ATF.

Early change is not an overkill. With passage of time, fluids also deteriorate even if driven just 10,000 kms in two years. So two years is not the final limit but a threshold before things start moving south.

Bahi - please read the following - Few facts are:

• Toyota IMC says 55k KM or 2 years - which ever comes first - means if I drove my car says 15000 km in 2 years I HAVE TO CHANGE!

• AISIN the Manufacturer of our K313 (Grande's CVT) and other toyota transmissions - says 20,000 KM or 2 years!

• Now the questions is WHY USA says a very, very long interval; let me share with you some hard facts:
  The price of brand new 2020 Toyota Corolla cost is US$19,600. Plz see the link below

• The Price of a transmission fluid is around US$ 62 per gallon and you need 2 Nos. thus total price US$124

• The 3S dealership will charge about US$400-500 for the change process - as the time required to change (3 drain-and-fills) will take about 3-4 hours of work.

• This means the estimated cost would be around somewhere US$400 to $600.

• Now after 2 years what will be the cost of used car for 2 years? My guess hardly US$3000 to US$ 5000 - this means the labor cost is around 12% to 20% of the car cost!!! Is is really wise to do that in USA?

• Thus in USA or such developed countries you would not want to spend such a huge amount in comparison to cost of the car!

• Whereas in Pak - after 2 years the car would still be + Rs 3 million and it would cost around Rs. 12,000 on CVT fluid change which is hardly 0.4% of car cost!!!!

So total cost of ownership also matters!

So please trust manual and AISIN!!!!

However, If you have decided not to listen then - your choice - please do share the results of your car when you have driven it 100,00 miles (161,000 km) without transmission fluid change. We would love to see the results.

In PAK follow Indus guidelines which is

• Inspect at 40,000 km
• Change at 55,000 km or 2-years - whichever comes first!
• And if you check at 40k km - and find un-satisfactory tranmission color or odour - please proceed to change at 40k km or less than 2 years - whichever comes first!

We should stop this debate now. In other countries Toyota says 72 months or 6 years - not 2 years for CVT oil change. So, there will be some differences between rest of the world and Indus Toyota.

If you're in PAK, just follow Indus for personal satisfaction. But it doesn't mean other countries are wrong and PAK is right.

My friend even does not touch cars which come after 100,000 kms and proudly announce kabhi transmission oil change naheen karaya after bitter experiences. Many trannies died or developed faults soon after the fluid was replaced.

Those cars whose transmission oils were changed in time did not report any such issues.

I think @bridgedoctorali also has a similar experience with a Fielder I guess.

Yes! My colleague has 2007 Toyota Fielder with CVT transmission. He was the third or 4th owner I guess. He changed the fluid in 2017; and the moment it was changed - it died. He had to replace the whole trany!

Guidelines are different according to your country's demographics. I was in china two years ago, polished my shoe once a week and that too as a habit, it was not required as there was hardly any dust around... while in Karachi you need to polish twice a day....

So since USA has a different temperature, different road conditions, we can follow what toyota US says about changing CVT oil, then again quality of product may also be different, be it the oil or the gears etc.

Change as the book says, then again, i assume that if you can afford a 2 to 3 million car, you can afford its oil change....

Lets leave this childish argument....

Don't use gaarha tail Wala argument here brother. You should read up on heat and dust, which exists there too.

aaa not really...people would buy a new corolla eve if inflation went through the roof. Yaris is introduced because the next gen. of Corolla boy does not support a 1.3 and the new engines cannot be manifactured as 1.3 by design, so it has too. The 2 launches had to be spaced out to ensure the new Yaris got its traction in the market. And if we look at it 1.6 potential buyers may rightly pick a top of the line Yaris unless they consider resale maybe, need the bigger size or are image concious, Grande will still sell.

Na Honda fan boys will be Honda fan boys, few will convert but mostly imported car buyers, xli, gli customers ,some 1.6 customers and people with old Corollas will buy the Yaris in my humble opinion.

I get where you are at...but having lived with both cars abroad...previous gens though..there is also NOTABLE difference in driving dynamics that no one is talking about. A 1.5 yaris is zippier of the line but a 1.6 corolla is much stable and feels heavier on higher speeds...big. diff. depending on which city you live and how freq. you hit the motorway.

Man...har jagah ye rona nahin banta...UGLY looks is v. subjective...and the cars you are mentioning have even lost their steam in the middle east, their home ground in the last 4 years...cars like Yaris and Hyundai,Kia counterparts sell like hotcakes there that with old oil prices Arabs wouldn't have touched with a 10 feet pole...so yeah times have changed...be happy

This is a Yaris thread , so i guess we need to discuss here not in Mehran thread. I agree with you , looks are subjective but UN-proportional length and width plus raised height by IMC does not made this car look beautiful.
I don't know which country you are talking about in middle east but what i have sees is a bit different, KIA and Hyundai sales mostly optima , sonata and elentra and these are proper sedans.
