all: to turbo an efi engine is not really a big issue. its not the issue that if some other engine can be done why cant we do 4afe..
racerf2 has been installing turbos in cars, suvs as we've seen here,, can show you loads of examples of how, what and everything in between involved in turbos.
the question is ,,,Is ""4afe turbo"" practical durable, worth spending all the time , efforts..
i say no.
why?
because orginally 4afe engine block was designed as
4type A series fuel economic
same time, those years 4age series existed,,in cars. It had tougher engine block, stronger internals to bare power.. more power, efficent quicker responce and all. for that iron block was chosen back then not because iron block was cheaper than aluminun that time:)
Toyota decided to install 4age in GT cars , and coupes not in standard sedans or stationwagons ,, for normal sedans 4afe was selected..
now the best way to increase power in yr car is to swap 4age , and take out 4afe..
when you turbo 4afe you will get less power than a 4age if try to get similar results, you can destroy the engine real quick. if you put in lot of time money effort you want some good results too that is why i said its not practical turboing 4afe.
use a 20v,, get power the better way, or use 3sgte ,, that will fit in too,,and has more power.
best is just drive 4afe as is. it will last long.,, and its pretty durable engine.--
