Madressah's were used as a university and residence of the students were also built inside. All kind of subjects were taught and researched here. Notice the small rooms on first floor. These are quite common in Central Asia and I think that in the sub continent similar idea was continued. Although now the Madressah is only limited to religious education in our country mostly.

Notice the beautiful interior.

The interesting thing to note is that in the second picture the roof is rather flat. Only the art work created a perception of a dome. Mesmerizing!

Thank you for the comments. All these shots are from mobile phone as I was not carrying any other camera on this trip but the results are ok.

The architecture is indeed very interesting. Some architect maybe can notice further technicalities in these intricate designs.

Also notice the contrast between modern and ancient Uzbekistan. In the beginning there are some shots of modern buildings from Tashkent where I was working. The contrast is very interesting. Sadly we have not preserved our history neither developed the modern architectue in a planned way...

Following are the outside shots of the tomb of the great ruler Amir Temur. His empire was spread over Central Asia, South Asia and West Asia. I think that Peshawer was also included in his empire at one time or the other. He died during one of his expeditions to China. He wanted to be buried in Sher-e-Sabz (His Birth Place) but indstead was buried in Samarqand.

The blue tile work is common in the architecure of the era. I have witnessed same work in Iran and Turkey. Another famous example is the Blue Mosque in Istanbul.
