You're mistaken about how much a Stutz cost. It might have been a horrible car, but it was a very expensive piece of garbage with its "italian craftsmanship" and "hand built" quality.

To put the price in perspective, look at in real dollars and you'll understand how the Stutz cost more than a Rolls Royce.

I'm not too sure if looks are all that matter. I'm from the school of thought that considers a car's heritage to be just as important as its aesthetics. Morgan Aero 8, Isetta Bubble, or Citroen 2CV... all ugly but cherished.

Either way it's an extremely rare car that has fascinating history in American high life. It was a shock to see it in Pakistan.

You saw this car in Pakistan??? now thats facsinating. Liking or disliking a car is very personal. I don't find it that interestng though Elvis Presley sure did as he had 4 of them. From 1971 - 1987 only 500 were produced, limited numbers alright but it was no Iso Grifo or or an aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato. The car was not an innovative masterpiece but was made from parts borrowed from other marques. However, it was an expansive car when launched and I don't have an idea what it would cost now. Here's a Stutz Blackhawk which certainly is a classic.....note the supercharger. Isetta is a cute machine, started the bubble car revolution - over 10,000 were made before Fiat 500 launch in 1957 killed it. 2CV was an iconic car...highly successful. Almost 4 million were made. A masterpiece which changed the life of farmers across Europe.

Stutz in Lahore - thats makes it very interesting as it is not a run of the mill Caddy or a Chev. Pretty rare beast. I wonder who brought it to Pakistan.

romano... certainly the 1275 GT is the same.....this is a small world.... dont know where it disappeared. You are right about Minis... the ride is bouncy but man there is nothing better to get a smile on ones face My eldest daughter is 17 now and she is going to get the Cooper as her first car. For once she is not averse to it. If you want to learnt handling do it in a Mi ni initially. It is safe and fun.

The Stutz was spotted by another friend of mine... Zafar and he rang me immediately..so yes it is here. Would be interesting to find out how it got here. Zafar has a Caddy... very different form a Mini... pic of teh actual car attached

The Stutz has been in Lahore for some time I think. Someone did mention it but this is the first picture.
Looks like at the Polo Club? or Gymnkhana as Romano say's.

These cars were made on the Pontiac running gear using the massive 440 engine's from GM but the body was built and trimmed and finished in Italy, Turin I think.
The interior was finished to a very very standard and comparable to the top hand built European cars.

What basically let it down was the standard GM running gear.
A very nice and original example sold for about 16,000 USD recently so it is obvious that they have a very limited following and are available at bargain prices. The price when new in the mid 80's was well in excess of 75,000 USD!!

I'd love to see the ITP value on the customs Bill of Entry. !!!Could be stepping on the wrong toes here.
