I'm Glad you liked the photos of the Mercedes. We too had cars going out of the country. One that I clearly remember is the V16 Cadillac owned by Sheikh Mukhtar which earlier belonged to the Maharaja of Occhar. The motorcycle trade still continues.
I hope some law is made atleast now to prevent the heritage cars from being sent out of the country

You are very welcome ... I missed the rally but will try and locate the photos. Jackie Shroff is a lover of cars...he too lives in Bandra....So nice to hear all these details from you that you have noticed about the lincoln that I have posted photos off. I have a friend who owns a few 2 CV citroens...one he says is a milk van...

Being a Mopar, Ford and Chevy fan, I'd second safeershah that the Mopars are true muscle cars but I'd also say that the big blocks from Ford and would give them a good fight too.

I respect your viewpoint and would like to let you know that I love the 69-70 Mustang too, probably as much as the '65 if not more. My point was that Mustangs beyond 1967 were quite different to the earlier cars. 1968, '69 & '70 were fabolous cars in their own right and were good enough to have a new / different name instead of piggybacking on the Mustang success. There was a 1969 Mustang convertible in Karachi which was taken out of Pakistan to Jeddah by a Saudi National in the early 1990's. Another example is the Jaguar XK120, which I think was much better than its subsequent models i.e. XK 140 and XK 150. yet another example is the E-Type....Series 1 was the best though 1 1/2 was a better car, series 2 and 3 ...well not what E-Type was meant to be......I consider my Healey 100 the best among the Healey's, what followed were prob better cars but weren't as pure or appealing....I hope you get my point.....the best of the SL's were the earlier cars, the 280SL pagoda top etc. Better than what MB had to offer subsequently.

The car has to look lean and mean.....my top three are a 1965 Mustang Shelby GT 500, a 1967 Pontiac Firebird 325 hp 400ci (Firebird 400 Ram Air) and a 1965 Corvette Stingray splt rear window with a 396 ci 425 hp engine.....lets have your top 3

no one has mentioned the Galaxie XL 500......does AC Cobra 427 fit in anywhere?

@ Mohsin bhai..yep..i get ur point mohsin bhai..justa correction, the shelby gt 500 was offered 67 onwards. the 65-66 had the gt 350 and gt 350H.
the AC cobra 427(started out as a289, yea the same one that powered the hipo 65 mustang version:))..and yes...the cobra gave ferrari a nosebleed and a knockout 3 years running..the gt40 did it 3 years runnin after that 2:)
my top three "muscle cars" are:
1) 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429
2) 1969 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray 454
3) 1969 Dodge Charger 426 Hemi

These numbering games are very difficult! People always ask what your top favorite muscle cars are, and I can't decide which ones I like more! lol!
Anyways,my list would be something like this:
1. 1969 426 Dodge Charger
2. 1967 Shelby GT500 OR 1970 Hemi 'cuda
3. 1969 Camaro ZL1 OR 454 Chevelle OR 1967 Pontiac GTO

thanks for the correction. I had 'gone in 60 seconds' in mind and was going to put a 1967 as one of my favourites, then I thought of the '65 fast back shape which is purer....

safeershah... yes the car is basically complete. The front and rear light panels are there. The rear lights will need a plastic chrome job. The bumpers are there...possibly one of the overriders on the front bumper... these were present on the 73 model is missing. The grill was missing but I got it from the states... in two pieces but repairable with epoxy resin. After a repaint one should not be able to tell the difference. And the front indicator lamps which I probably have lying around in my store. The seats are there and will need a full refurbishment. Last I checked the interior casings post B pillars were also there. The front and rear screen were present and intact unless something has happened to them.

Like I said a basket case but doable...

Mohsin uncle..the 69 was the last decent mustang IMHO...it had sleek lines...it looked fast...wether it was or wasnt, as usual depends on what option you chose..th 67 had a bulky rear fender...ive seen both (67 and 68) and the 67 just looks plain retarded...i am attaching a picture after this reply..

as far as a muscle car categorization goes, the GTO and the Mustang kicked off the muscle cars war..so to say that it is a 'pony' car is just being ignorant :)...mustang fanatics called it a pony car after its insignia, not its specifications. Need I remind you the 390 and the 428 (not to mention the later BOSS Variants) were one of the fastest engines of its time.....as far as the 440 and 454 Hemi goes...the HEMI (for those who dont know) is an engine where the piston head is a half HEMIsphere..therefore the name....this ensures better combustion and compression.....to say that the corvette and the others are muscle cars whilst the mustang is not is, like i said before..ignorant....end of the day tho...opinions are hard to change...which is why we have things in this world like the war on terror and a 'democratically' elected ape leading it

A couple of interesting vehicles seen on Saturady.

Mohsin you would be interested. The Top Gear award winning Fiat 500 owner was in town visiting his daughter... chap called Tony Pamelli. was bored stiff being cooped up at home due to the elections ( Sorry Romano as I had promised to go to Islamabad) and his son in law asked me to show him and the various wrecks around town... man is into restoring Austin A40 pedal cars and Fiats.Used to work in the old Morris / Austin works was it in Abingdon???

Saw these two cars....guess the owner??? One of these the Merc w108 is one of my all time favourite saloons...

For the chap who wanted to know of a jaguar. I saw a Jag Mk 1 stripped but missing the engine and tranny afew years ago.... Will need the correct engine and the interior which had caught fire....

my top 3 muscle cars are

1. dodge challenger 69 500
2. Plymouth Roadrunner 69 440
3. Dodge Daytona

in the late sixties and early 70's the wedge and hemi engines were banned by the nascar cause of their outstanding performance, there were no chance for others to win over those engine, I think in 69 a ford mustang won a nascar race, although mopar won the other top four position but it was far from the clean win :), ford mustang was a beautiful car but the mopar have a unique aggresive and raw look, what u say mohsin
