safeershah I think its a 73....the V8 is sound or was as I had it done. The engine I obtained had a piston burnt. Got a piston set for it and had it redone. Also obtained the non working ancillaries including the generator etc.

Dodges share many parts.. I had a book with all the shared part numbers etc that I also gave to Omar

You will need to get an intake and a 4bbl or some Holleys etc with the intake...

The pics are so interesting. Let me guess! The green MB is the 300 SEL 6.3 V8 ( I don't know the owner ) but had heard of one in Lahore in green color (alvis, am I right?). No clue about the lovely Morris. Is Tony still in town or has he left. Had he been in Karachi I would have taken him around in my 500. Yesterday, I was going to Korangi Site area in my 500 and ran out of fuel (taken out by my mechanic a night before)on bridge going uphill. A passerby on a bike offered to help and gave me a small nestle bottle full of fuel (less than 1/2 a litre). It was enough to take us to the nearest petrol pump, filled up Rs.100/- worth of fuel (don't ask me why?) and did my work in Korangi, went to Shaheed-e-Millat road 10 km away to check out a Mini, then to Tariq Road to follow up on my Mustang's seats, from there to Plaza / magazine lane etc to my office to pick up my laptop and then home.....that was almost like covering half of Karachi....just before reaching home I filled it up. Great car this 500....I love it

@mohsin ikram; sir according to my elder brother. the green MB isnt a 6.3. if it were..oit wud hav stacked headlights.
but thene again..mebe those were replaced.

Yeah I am talking about Kashif the AC guy, he have good experience on V8, by the way your 440 engine is number matching or some prior engine, I hope it should be a prior to 70 engine because after 70 the horsepower was under 200 in these engines

@neurosurgeon, The Abingdon factory prduced MGs (and the AH Sprite). The place was closed down in the eighties after production of MGB's & Midgets was discontinued. The old factory was later torn down to accomodate a housing estate.

@qasimshah, Stacked headlights were on the American models due to US regulations requiring cars to have "sealed beam units" instead of bulbs (late 60s/early 70s). I dont think engine size (6.3) had anything to do with the headlight design.

yep..im aware of the fact that stacked headlamps were on the US spec model.
the stacks were basically mant for US and mainland europe models...the 6.3 300 sel...came with stacks as it was primarily MEANT for those very markets.
furthermore the 6.3 and the 280 SE 3.5 conv had these distinctive headlights so as to stand out from the rets of the fleet.
it would be very rare if there existed a 300 sel 6.3 in RHD form....they were mostly RHD.

ive been reading ur thread from quiet a while:),i just have little restoartion project v did on 73 merc.let me share some pix with u.do comment on it n tell me wt more shd v do with it,all parts used were original n near 2 original.repainted it,did some body work,its powered bi a toyota 2.2L diesel engine as the orignal engine was 2.2D,v thought it was best a put an engine of the same displacement.
i love ur lincoln n citroen.i have a classic rolls royce in sight,didnt get a chance 2 spot it.they must b dam heavy on fuel:)

nice car - we have quite a few MB lovers here who I am sure would share their thoughts with you. The front looks a bit different...double bumper???? I may get a lot of stick from my fellow members here for saying this but I think you did a smart thing by putting a Jap engine. The car would be more reliable and usable....MB engines being bullet proof is just a myth....Toyota engines are as good if not better.....

Yes, i saw the Mini, will post pics tonight for all to see. It's quite clean and all there.....spoke to the electrician who told me that it belongs to someone who lives in an apt. on top of their shop and wants Rs.300,000/- for it which I think is crazy. I told the electrician to offer 60,000 on my behalf.

I didn't know Omar had a convt Morris and a 280 MB. Any idea what happened to his 220 Ponton Coupe. He says he has given it to a friend for restoration....
