There is no good chromewala in Karachi as far as I know. I get my work done from Amir of Shafi Chrome on Akbar Road. He is atleast honest and reasonable. Ahmed Agha had advertised a Mini Cooper in one of the last few pages here. Call him. There is another one lying in front of a battery shop off: Shahra-e-Faisal (link road between sh faisal and Shaheed e Millat Road.

2 million is a lot of money for that car. I remember OG had brought a lot of stuff from UK and Germany including windscreen, front lights etc.

There was a V8 Mitsubishi engine available since the late '90s. It's known as the 8A80 - an all-aluminium 4.5 V8, DOHC, GDI (Gasoline Direct Injection) and produces the regulation 280-ish BHP at 5000 RPM - A figure one has to take with a pinch of salt, it's very much likely to be higher than 300 BHP.

It's an engine that was made in partnership with Hyundai (with whom Mitsubishi has a long-standing relationship), thus the development costs were shared. The only cars to use it were the Liberty and the Proudia and the Hyundai Equus. The engine didn't fare well in terms of longevity in the market.

I seriously doubt that this engine could have been found underneath the GTO's hood, as it seems to be rare and very, very expensive. Still, who knows? It could even have been a Ford 302, a bunch of these found place under the Miata's hood.

If I got my hands on that Sapporo, I'd put in a 2.6 litre 4G54 or a 2.0 litre 4G63T. The 2.6 you can find in a petrol Pajero upto 1992 I think (1st gen in other words). It seems to be a pretty nice car actually, the best thing is that it's RWD.

I guess you are wrong about the pajero.I could be wrong as well, or may be both are correct. In 1992 new shape was introduced.But the other thing is that, it mite be introduced in later half of the year. you mite be talking about the first half & me about the second. anyways, It came with 2.4 Diesel. thats for sure. About petrol I am in Doubt

The first gen Pajero came with the 4D55, 4D55T, 4D56, 4D56T, 4D56Ti, 4G54 and the 6G72. Not in the same year of course.

The 6G72 was offered late in its life, when the second gen was about to be introduced.

Mine is a '90 model 1st gen. It was available with the 4D56, 4D56T, 4D56Ti, 4G54 and the 6G72.

About the shape, yes in '92 the new shape was introduced, but I think it was meant to be a '93 model, still, I could be mistaken about the model change.

Acquired a Ford Cortina Mk1 1964…… (whether a classic or not) but somehow I like the trims of car….

Just to share, I am giving details:

Apparently, a complete car without any modifications, seems to be a reasonable Project for restoration to original subject to availability of parts. My mechanic has however assured me that he would be able to do it with local resources.

I was actually looking for a British car of early 1960s preferable a Mini or a Morris Minor or both. My father used to own a Morris Minor 1963 - “LEC - 5” bought sometimes in 1960s probably from your neighborhood (Address of the previous owner on the book was 2 – Masson Road), after selling his Opel Rekord 1962 – “KAD 1716”. After his death in 1974 the car was stored for almost 5 years and then driven by me up till 1986 when my mother sold the car due to uncontrollable fumes and bought me a brand new Suzuki FX). I think this is one reason I like Morris’ which, no doubt, is labeled (world over as well as in Pakistan) as an ordinary low-end British car. I still miss the drive of the car (not comparable to Suzuki stuff), however……

So, I found this Ford Cortina ruining in a street near Chowburgi in the hands of young mechanics (LPG stuff)…... about to be modified with Toyota / Datsun engine and / or gear box etc…..

Currently, Engine and brakes are weak but restorable (according to my mechanic)…. Paint is original but with usual touch-ups. Dash Board seems to be repainted, which I hope, can be restored to original…… The only drawback seems to be “lack of time”, I assume……….

The attached picture has been taken in a public parking…..

Suggestions and guidance please……!

@Alvis, chances are this is a Pakistani assembled Cortina. Did they have a VIN plate identifying them as such?
Ali Automobiles were the dealers here in Rwp, next to Shezan I believe...
The car still has its monogram at the bottom of the front mudguard! The whole design mimics its American cousins across the Atlantic, wraparound rear bumper, mini fins, round rear lights, the shape of the C pillar (not really noticeable in a light coloured car), but quite obvious here in dark blue and Ford Falcon'ish. Ditto for the painted dash and steering column gearshift. It should look quite striking in a two tone paint job. White roof, blue or green body. Abid's red Cortina will now come in useful as a reference point

if i am correct is or was the cortina parked in the parking lot of the hospital in shadman dont remember the places name but the hospital if opposite racecource park . if yes how did you get hold of the owner i have also seen the car interior looks well looked after congrats.

No, They were classified in 92. In 94 Later Half, 2.4 was replaced by 2.8!
