the faisalababd Xj12 was initially LRB5... Ex Khalid Malik Car... former PPP MNA from Faisalabad...used to spend his time at the race course... last I saw the car was with short circuited wiring on Queens Road with him scratching his head and two electricians scratching their nether regions.... LUCAS electrics!!!!

black car in NBP pic could be an Opel. It was a smaller version of the Buick, and both had a similar chrome spear down the sides. A station wagon version of the model appeared on this thread some months ago..have a look

yes its very possible it could be a late 50s kapitan though still not sure but certainly not a buick if it was it would have stuck out like a sorethumb in a good way. hehe i wouldent dare to look it thru in previous pages but are you talking about a red one??

The Imp was a rear engined, water cooled,rear wheel drive competitor to the Mini, in size and price. Sadly, its handling wasnt up to battle with its front engined foe, and the Imp called it it quits. They are extremely rare today. Any survivors in Pakistan?

Wanted to know if some one has ever come across any second hand Pierburg 2E3 carburetor (or Weber carburetor)?

If yes kindly let me know where to get one from.

Or some has some info about refurbishing kit for 2E3 will be very helpful

was going thru a album of old pics of pakistan china frendship came across this pic its from 1970 yahya khan with zhou enlai and the car they are in is a red flag known as hong qi in chinese i knew of 2 or three of these cars while i was living in china but they seem to have vanished probably into the hand of some private collector.

my tuppenies worth on the Hillman Imp... nice car... and the handling can be sorted. the engine was the same one as in the fire engine water pumps post ww2 coventry cooper climax and could be used to get quite a lot of bhp... was used in racing cars by the likes of Jim Clark.and correct me if I am wrong in early lotuses.. the engine used to throw the water a few hundred feet...

mohsin... know of two other coopers in Lahore... belongs to @waleeds friend who is a banker in dubai and also owns a Jag Mk1 needing restoration. The other is Buksh's car. The rest are all 850s and a couple of 1000s. No coopers.

One of these is eminently rescuable apart form the fact that mice and rats have set up home in it. I offered him 100k out of pity but the chap thinks that he is great " Cheetah" and the car is worth millions.

The problem is that most people take the easy way out... first throw out the carbs and then the engine and then put in a Suzuki triple 660 or 800 or a charade and then " boast" about it

hope you guys arent sick of me posting pics all the time .went all the way to the beijing military museum again to take pics of two classic chinese cars for you guys. although there is no discription given as to what cars these are . both of them are red flag a chinese version of the russian ZIL the one on the right is a red flag version of a 1945 zil zis-110 the dies for this car are said to have been given by packard to the russians who later gave it to the chinese. the car on the left is a chinese version of 53 ZIM 7 but also known as red flag these cars were probalby used by state officials and state guests . and are now on display at the military museum unfortunalty both my phone and camera gaveup on me wanted to show you guys some vintage chinese military trucks and the chinese copy of a H1 will go there again tomorrow.

Some pics of the MR2 as well. I could not help but notice that it was holding its own against the RX7 and 8. Also took it for a drive again.as Lahore was cool after rain this evening.. in memory lane... delightful,.... light and wieldy...with the font end bobbing slightly.... small engine but the growl behind the left ear.... no wonder that people like mid engined cars...

lol! at MNA and 2 electricians scratching their heads....my fiend who owned the Jag in it's later life used to scratch his head for a different reason....the car would heat up like nobody's business, thats why it came to me and I had my mechanic do some jugadh to the cooling system and it became somewhat useable. I used it sparingly for a few months and it was a pleasure to drive.
