@sami_voodoo thanks for the video and misc info. You are absolutey right about keeping my Mustang as original as possible. The only think I have fiddled with is swapping my 2V intake with a 4V Edelbrock Torquer. I was advised to put a Holly instead of an Edelbrock Carb, I did neither I was cash strapped so opted for a used 4 barrel Weber competion carb for the time being. Somebody advised me to go for 32 valve heads and a new double pumper 600 cfm carb. My car already has high compression pistons and the above mods could make it a bit more exciting - but am not spending any serious money on it at the moment - atleast not till my split window VW and my bikes are restored...

if you use all aluminium (alluminum block + head ) lightweight connecting rod, light weight crank, forged piston then i think u can save 100 to 150 lbs weight on 351 or 427.

@mohsin: the funky fiat 500 was owned by sheikh hamd bin hamdan of uae also known as rainbow sheikh. I visited his car collection few days back. Wud post more pics later.

I only have pics when bought. They awere posted on this thread a few pages ago. The car is wrapped up awaiting resto slot. Coincidentally only last night I had called my mechanic and had a long discussion with him on the VW resto plan.

Can u tell the range of pages where I can find the pics. Plus who is your mechanic and denter. Must have gone through a lot of tests and trials before being your cars mechanic. I would like to benefit from your stamp of approval when having my bugsmechanicals fixed.

have no idea where to find those vw pics on this thread....I 'll have a go in a while and will let you know if I can find them. As for my mechanic, denter etc. you may not find them suitable as they are not the best and they have nakhras. I have worked with them for 20 years and I get most of the work done at my home so I compromise on the finish quality and all. Furthermore, my aim is not a concourse restoration, I use my cars as any ordinary car. I dont mind a scratch or two and use them the way they were supposed to be used. I often rough them up too. I would prefer to see a well used classic rather than a show car.

You're very welcome. I've just been doing a bit of catching up on American V8s in my free time and I just wanted to share a bit of info. Of course, there are a lot of other people in this forum and in your contact that know a lot more about V8s, so my comments were basically of the $0.02 variety.

I understand completely about cars being used as cars and not kept as show pieces. You should be able to use your car in everyday traffic without worrying, only then is it a car. It's a tool to facilitate transport. It's not worth anything in my book if it does not succeed in doing this.

These cars upto concourse restoration if you compare the resources we have here, in states they have tons of resources, parts and best workshop so majority of them give their car to a designer and tell them what kind of engine , paint etc they want and on given time they pick up there cars unlike the things we are doing finding parts, importing them giving custom duty , arguing with denter , mechanic etc Normally ppl used to say here why dont you sell this and buy a cultus or mehran but we are so stubborn that we are still working and restoring on these machines hatsoff to all of the participants of this forum ...
