some of the remarks were quite rude and personal. I agree that we need to have certain level of ettiquetes to be part of this forum. We are all petrol heads to the core and must realize that it is the diversity of our interests that keeps this thread alive....had we been discussing minis only, the thread wouldnt have reached 500 pages and 10,000 messages. So bury your hatchets and continue with the healthy discussion on classic cars that we have been doing for the last few years.

I apologise for anything i said that came off as personal to anyone out there, wasn't on purpose, i was merely stating the facts of what i saw, through my eyes of course. Though i continue to disagree with the intellect of those who compare classic and vintage cars with modern day mass produced cars.

qasimshah... I did want it to be mexican orange initially... but changed my mind later..... multiple reasons... maybe pressure from the home ministry...

but then she wants me to buy a sensible car......toyota corolla 1.3 gli... has something to do with her dad i suppose. his cars after marriage were datsun 100A. Mazda 323 100, Datsun 120Y.... most exciting and out of the ordinary was Daewoo Racer federal govt permit issue and he now drives a Honda S****y.

My dads first car was a Chevy Belair although it did go downhill from there on. It may be in the genes as I remember my Grandad always having a couple of Arabian mares in his rather large stable and my father rode horses even when unwell until the year before he died at 72.

@supersonic... son look after your toes and the rest shall look after themselves.....is the bouncing in the Minis contributing to the problem... just joking.....I see that you arent letting the enforced rest keep you down... and lets paint your present Mini project Orange.

I am also getting a Mini shell complete without engine...which shall be a 1275 Cooper S replica. twin tanks and all..Colour red with white roof.. interested or shall we blow the V8s into the weeds with the Honda b16A2 I have lying around. 168 BHP in a Mini.

That reminds me.... Mohsin.... any luck??? Shall I crawl....

Might i remind you again, this is a thread for Vintage and Classic cars in Pakistan. Your discussion centered around comparing classic cars to modern day workhorses- the two being poles apart in form and function-and that is why i had an issue with your post which i considered ignorant and completely out of place in this thread. You are by all means free to create your own thread and discuss topics that interest only you as i see no one else comparing the feasibility of owning suzukis verse minis on this thread.

You are free to talk about the Pakistani market anywhere on Pakwheels but let me remind you that the regular cars market and classic cars market is by no means the same. Your continued insistence on enforcing your mantra in this thread is failing (again judging by the support that no one in this thread has cared to give).

This is my last response to you as i dont wish to waste any more time-both mine and of the other members here.

Havent driven her around because of the rain actually i havent even been to the garage since yesterday morning.

The enforced rest has given me a lot of time with the computer. And with books and other resources, desgining an exhaust system for the project these days. Most setups have two mufflers while yours only has one-strange. I'm thinking twin exhaust tips, at either side, or twin exhaust tips at one side bent away from the car.

The colour is yellow as per my parents' liking. I'm building this car for my father.

Are you importing the shell?
I'm thinking of making a stripped down rally car myself. Tartan red w/ white roof ala Cooper works style. The third one is ideal for such a project, the only problem is the 850cc unit, not enough power. Lets bring in two 1275's from her majesty's kingdom shall we?

As for the Vtec swap, someone i recently got to know is planning to do that, i dont want to be around to see the car being hacked into pieces.

there are countless posts on this thread alone where people have said that its stupid to go after restoring an old car. it is said by ppl who dont understand or love classics. and why are you posting questions to which you are answering yourself? i didnt call anyone dumb. i said there are people who do that. maybe if i had put it like 'DUMB' than maybe it would have been easier for you to understand. you only saw what you wanted to see. you spoke too much and too soon. you are still doing the same. i like that mini. i dont agree with the interior a little bit and if i had the money, i would have been one of the 'DUMB' ones.

you should also learn to take a joke. if you cant, then that is not my problem.

the issue was not the comparative drives of the two elderly gents but possibly the development of thought in the progeny.... i was looking at the psychology of the thing....hence the arab mares etc

the Chevy was a 57 bought brand new in Detroit driven to Canada where my father was working and driven from Karachi to Lahore in 58.

No stripes on the car... grew out of that in 1977...only cars where strpes permissible are... in this order GT40, Mustang, Cobra annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd in the redddddd corner .... the Mini.
