thank you. But I must put the record straight that it wasnt my effort to get the trucks out and get permission to restore them. The main person behind the scenes is Maureen Lines, an 85 year old British lady who heads the 'Frontier Heritage Trust' who knew Romano who got me in touch with her....my only effort was to fly to Peshawar two years ago and drafting a letter addressed to the Governor of Peshawar. Now that the truck is out from its storage, I have been asked to lead the restoration process. I hope all goes well and we do an acceptable job.

the z had its first proper road test today.

I am afraid the 225/55 16s are too big and rub in the wheel arches and will have to be changed. The exhaust is too boomy without the centre box and a new stainless free flow will be put in today along with the centre section. The engine needs to have a heat shield between the exhaust and the intake manifold.... fuel evap problems make top end performance a bit iffy... but then this is a single carb car at the moment. The steering grates a bit and it shall be fixed today.

there are several things left in the interior. Imad had put the steering column in from a modern Sunny. Whereas it does the trick...a it isnt henuine and there is too little space left for the thighs when the steering cowling is in place. Solution get new genuine column with stalks and cowling which has been duly done via ebay and delivery made to my mother presently in Jacksonville. This will then have to wait a month or two.

Some interior and exterior issues need to be done..the expensive mirrors have to be put on... I am trying to trace console switches and a few other trim bits. The wipers need to be put on and the cowling in front of the dash.

Rustproofing of the floor needs to be done form below with setting bitumen and similar products...available here now..

Some pics.. its coming along nicely... Datto please dont pick holes in it .. I am aware of the shgortcomings and will sort them out one by one

Very very nice! It's been a long time coming this car, but you and your team have been working hard at it, and it shows.

As for the wheels, IMHO, every classic Japanese sports or sporty car can benefit from RS Watanbe wheels :D. Those in 15" wrapped in 225 at the rear and 195 at the front will give the car it's requisite racy stance. Of course, I'm daydreaming here, but wouldn't it be nice?

With regards to the engine, are you thinking of putting in multiple carburettors or fuel injection on it? With multiple carbies, it should sound very nice. I'm not sure if you'll gain much in the way of power though. For that you might need cams at the very least. And besides, power is overrated (I can't believe I'm saying this...)

Thanks guys....will be puttin g up more pics soon... during the fitting there were sundry scratches and dents which are being removed. The car started to misfire due to overrich fuel from the carb.. saw the jets... very interesting the previous owner had put in a 142 jet on the slow jet and 110 on the secondary...

now its gone on to a 92/120 combo.. mechanic says should give me 10 km/litre... here i am talking about fuel economy when my daily drivers are an EVO 7 and an RX8

Love the Watanabe wheels. especially on the AE86...none available here... the last ones that I had had an intesting history... 14 inch and were in sequence on the following cars in sequence Honda Accord 1986, Nissan Sunny 1000, VW Golf Mk 2,Toyota Corolla 86, Back again on the Accord, Toyota MR2 ( replaced by the BBSs now on the Alfa) and then the Fiat 124 sports coupe ( red ) that I sold in a fit of stupidity.

These Minilite lookalikes are classics... my search has revealed a set of 13 inch chinese copies for a Suzuki Alto PCD and offset....My Mini has the 10 inchers

I was looking at the price of the Watanabes and my my! They're quite expensive, varying between 40k to 60k+ rupees per wheel. Then again, it's about the going price for a good wheel. The second option would be the ML series form Compomotive, a 15x5.5 wheel is £142 pounds or 19k rupees from:

waleed.. will apologise in person for that... checked how to put the ZG flares on..initially i thought i could get away without cutting the fendersbbut later found it would have taken a lot of cutting of the wheel arches and i did not wnat to molest the body. So they are still with me. Maybe later when I want the car to be more butch,

samivoodoo... the Panasport wheels are good too,,but i am more intested in getting the wheels for the Alfa..going to teh UK in september.... am mulling in my mind whether to get the wheels first or whether to get body repair panels... cuts repair/ restoration time by several months, dang it i'll bring the wheels with me and get the panels shipped....
