The time has come when big hulks are being dragged into Shershah scrapyard for a quick slaughter. This phenomenon is thanks to the spiraling diesel prices which makes these once economical cars redundant.
Topping the list of such vehicles are old Mecedes benz cars. Ive seen 110 series fintails and the next generation 114-115 models being murdered with impunity.
Recently, I asked about a complete, though non running fintail and the price quoted by the scrapper was 90k rupees. He laughed at me, looking at me as if I was some kind of a nut and proudly said that this car is nothing to the complete *running* silver colored fintail he scrapped last week. Wth???
And then two weeks ago I got this news from one of my moles about an S class fintail, left hand drive, hacked up. Car was so clean it even had the chrome horn ring.
If anyone is interested in an old Merc or American iron project, perhaps now is the last chance to get hold of a good project car. Please let me know if someone has genuine interest. Soon most would end up as Dalda ghee canisters.
