We used to have a Plymouth in islamabad In late 70's and early 80's n that was sold out for 6000 rs in mid 80's i think. will post pics sometime if i can find a few.

:)This green 911T ( probably a 2.4 ) used to belong to Brig Syed Akram. Registration LET 9211... I tried to race it from the traffic lights at Charing Cross in '77... my corolla 76 still had axle tramp and was hopping on its wheels while the 911 had already passed the Wapda House gate and was screaming past what is now the Avari Hotel. It was then owned by a landowning family.Salutary lesson that.... never try to race a car with traction off the line like a 911's

The family don't know where it is either....but I will trace it out if its is still in the metal.I have been looking for it for the last three decades minus the time I was in the UK

Brig Syed Sb was a fellow Shah jamal resident and had the car till 1985. My brother and I had a BMW 2002Ti at that time and wanted to add this car to our garage. It was a 911T with 1991 cc carburetor engine and had been brought from Jordan where the Brig sb served on secondment. He also had a Miarafiori ( spelling?)and a Mini 1275GT.
It was finally seen in a house near Jail road minus engine which was in a proverbial basket next to it. Our offer of Rs 60,000 as is where is basis was refused.
The car was then bought by Mr.X and taken to Germany in late 1985. As expected it was changed with a Porsche of early to mid 1980's model with rear spoiler and registered in city Y on false identity. Enough said.
At the same time a Jaguar E type 4.2, LEC111 was for sale in a showroom on main boulevard. We offered the same Rs 60,000 for it but were refused. They wanted Rs. 120,000. This gets better. In a workshop nearby a Jaguar XK120 minus interior was being repaired and painted. It was not for sale. This car was later acquired by a Karachi enthusiast. It is now in UK.

I restored this car in 1990 in a house in Bath Island. It was in average condition but the engine was sound and had been rebuilt. We put in the interior seats etc and the missing wood trim and repainted the car. The biggest hurdle was that the gear box and the interior gear change controls were missing. In the pre internet time, I had a hell of a problem in locating a replacement. It is a Cotal pre selector gearbox. It was located by a close friend in UK through the Armstrong Siddeley Club, and was airlifted from UK. Don't rememeber how much was paid for it. It fit right in and the small dash mounted gear shift quadrant was a delight. with a miniature lever in a gated quadrant. I almost got used to driving a pre selector. you just shifted the lever in the next slot you wanted ( like a automatic) and then when you pressed and released the clutch it would drive off in that gear. It was a weird feeling of gear before clutch.
I did not take a fancy to the car itself. It had build quality problems like the Jaguars of the same eras. The metal parts had rough and sharp edges under the interior fittings and most things were fragile and rust prone. However I am sure it must have been quite a car in its time when new.

Well to add to your post Brig Syed Akram probably left Jordan around 1979 summer time. The really interesting point is that he had a Porsche 911 RSR Lightweight in Jordan. I know this for sure as he had brought the car to London in the summer of 1979 and put it up for sale. He was asking GBP 7,000 for it at the time. I was in Saudi at the time and was very keen to buy it, but fell short of the required finances.GBP 7,000 was a lot of money back in 1979
The RSR was snapped up by a very famous Porsche specialist and I believe it was exported to Europe, as it was a left hand drive. It was white with the RSR lettering on the sides. As far as I can remember it had the 2.7 litre engine, and even at that time was a rare classic. It was a 1974 model.
So it actually means that he had two Porsches in Jordan.!

@ Shyml and Alvis - I remember an early 70's green Porsche 911 at Javed Zia's house back in late 1980's. I was told that this was originally owned by Anwar / Omar Tiwana. The same car I believe was shipped out for restoration and came back as a newer model car .... I wonder if this one had any relation to the one you guys are discussing

Mohsin, I do remember seeing the dark green Porsche 911 around the same time, but was passing on info on the 911 Carrera RSR owned by Brig Akram. He never brought the RSR to Pakistan, as I know it was sold in London in 1979, as I said earlier.

Any news on the Rover P5 that was always parked in Finlay House on Chundrigar?

Sunday happenings at my house.......

Citroen was pulled out from its hiding and got oil and petrol running through the engine again ..... electricity flowed through its wires after a year and half. Will need to give it some attention after the rally.

VW Splitty body went back on its chassis / frame and is now at the denters shop for more panel beating.

Are you sure about this being a Lincoln? I would imagine this to be a GM product, maybe a Cadillac 1938/1939. Panel look so similar to my 1939 Buick.
If this car could be rescued and returned to original state, you will have a majestic Limo.
