Found this 220 in a workshop uptil now it must have been ready...

This car I believe was in the use of Field Marshal Ayub Khan. And if I am not mistaken the book still has his name on it. The registration number if my memory serves me is RIG 19.

Are you sure about this being a Lincoln? I would imagine this to be a GM product, maybe a Cadillac 1938/1939. Panel look so similar to my 1939 Buick.
If this car could be rescued and returned to original state, you will have a majestic Limo.

Take a look of this 1936 Mercedes getting ready...A similar to it found while browsing

The car in the workshop is definetly not a 1936 Mercedes. It is probably a 170 series from 1949 or early fifties. Note it is a four door, with a long tapered hood, compare it with the nearly rectangular hood and two doors in the browising pictures youve posted.
Google Mercedes 170 and you will see the similarity with the car in the garage.
A car like this was Mohsins first car and which set him on the path of passion.

Jboy, I doubt this could be FM Ayubs personal car. He passed away in 1975, and at that time the Rawalpindi series was RID. The RIG series came after he passed away, so some more investigation will be required.
He left the Presidents House in 1969.

This car has been standing here for the last maybe seven or ten years, my father used to get his work done from this one denter who used to work at this workshop and I always used to be fascinated by this car. The gentleman who own it lives in Model Town somewhere. Hope he gets the time to have this restored.

Thanks Alvis - it cant be a 1949 as till 51 the boot had the depression for the spare wheel....this looks like a 170 1951 or 52 model...but agree with you certainly not a 130 H

getting jittery as rally too close and cars still requiring a lot of work and mechanics very busy with their Jap cars

This should be a 170V, probably prewar. It would have a 4 cylinder pertrol engine mounted in the front. The "similar" car shown is a rear engined car, very rare and fairly recently I came to know that there is one in Calcutta. These Mercedes are very usable cars, hope she gets back on the road.

quite a few manufacturers were making cars in India pre and post partition....which one were these? Dodge, Desoto etc. I guess.

Just news on my 911 ... did not start from cold .. took a week for the Bosch CIS (Cold Injection System ) to be sorted out... back to rude health now. And coming home after minor cosmetics sorted out... got the wheels painted black again... indian red was tacky

That Mercedes is an early 170V ....the engine would be in the front.

The H series cars did not have a transmission tunnel as can b seen in the pictures.

The other thing is that the H series had a shorter hood which curved down at the front. The hood seen in the pictures is long and straight

Saw a 2cv beside the parking lot of Iqra Uni, main campus. It was neatly restored but the color was awkward. Purplish red kinda shade.

The transmission tunnel seems to have suffered - driveshaft interruptus syndrome.
