Vitz 08 giving pathetic mileage

Hey Pakwheelers !

I recently bought a Vitz 2008 (face lift) this is the same one whose side mirror got stolen last sunday Anyhow, what I wanted to ask you guys was that I needed your help to improve my car's mileage. My car is currently giving me 6.75 km/l :'(:mad::mad: And im like WTF !?! At first I didnt pay attention, but as days passed and i was running out of gas quickly so I decided to calculate my avg. I filled the tank with rs.500 worth of petrol and the car went exactly 37.5 kms and after that the last bar started to blink. If this **** goes on I might have to sell my car.

I went to the mechanic he checked the spark plugs and said that they are absolutely fine as they were red not block but the air filter was taking its last breaths. He said you only need to change that and you'll be good to go but I believe thats far from true. When a vitz 1.0 should be giving me a min of 12 - 13 km/l in city its giving me 6.75 km/l Yeh tou had he ho gaye yaar

while get it tuned.. if u r using pso or shell, opt for caltex, sometimes they have a better fuel quality..

Clean your throttle body, did you do an engine oil and oil filter change?

well, in case u have a few more bucks, go for the new honda city.

otherwise go thru naweed's thread, get ur throttle body serviced, change ur fuel etc etc..

a more accurate way of checking mileage is to fill tank completely and then note mileage up to reserve

aray bhai last bar mey bhi gari acha khasa chalti .. last bar nei ap petrol delwao n 1 2 litre bottle mey bhi lelo chalao jb tk ruk na jae n thn calculate do 2 3 times n take the average u'll get the right result!

you have to drive auto cars in another way you have to drive them slow and smooth don't accelerate the car a lot while driving

Did you change the Air Filter when the mechanic told you to do so ?

An full check and service should help. That includes replacing plugs, filters, oils (Including your A/T oil), a throttle body service and a check on whether all sensors are working fine (Esp. the O2 or knock sensor ... not sure which or both the Vitz has, but that really messes up with your mileage if you have a bad sensor)

there is something wrong with your vitz or with your driving style.

As its CVT don't push the throttle hard, floor it gently and when its around 60 you can floor it hard.

Change AirFilter, Check tire pressure, Tire jam?, try different pumps avoid shell and pso(best way to check a pump is to ask them to fill petrol in a 1.5 liter bottle and then see the numbers on their meter). Ask them to fill by pressing 5 0 0 not by presets (P5).

Get its CAT checked from toyota or some silencer shop.

@ahsan1702: No i havent changed its air filter as of now, but I will be doing it as soon as i goto the Toyota showroom. Whats the A/T oil ? Oh and if suppose one of the sensor is not working well, then i guess ill have to sell out the car right ? :s

@HAshims : Well i think its both, caus I floor the accelerator irrespective of the speed of the car atm. Whats a tire jam ? :s And bro I only use petrol from the PSO - Company Operated outlet in defence, ab aur kahan se petrol bharwaon ?
And whats a CAT ?

No don't trust toyota guys they will charge for nothing.

Get Air Filter from some good shop like we have Filterhouse here. Change it yourself !

Tire jam - means if tire is moving smoothly or not.

Change your petrol pump

CAT is catalytic converter which converts your car exhaust gas to environment friendly gas. It usually gets blocked here and nearly impossible to replace it here.

i had vitz 2005 and it was giving me 8km/l. All tuning was done, sensors checking and cleaning, TB service, plugs, filter, CVT oil, engine oil. but no improvement. i ended up selling it

if the car comes with the CAT con, get the plugs & cat con checked.

Dont worry its vitz habbit most of us are killed by vitz looks and dont try to know other habbits of vitz this car milege is patheic as well as fuel average is worst anyways now u have to live with it so keep un filling tanks and when last light start blinking go again and again to fuel station.
in addition please dont waste money on so much tuning as this car dont need so much tuning if its 1000 cc but most ppl will ask u to get clean throttle body and change the plugs but it wil not improve the fuel avarage as i have vitz 2007 with new lights but i am not satisfy with this

if you are using cng, your average will be good on one but not on both.

Recently I have an experience of Vitz 2008

Vitz speedometer is mentioned KM/h where as actually running at Miles/h

I started my journey from Lahore to Multan and speedometer was reset to Zero, upon arrival at Multan it was 200.

Where as it is actually 320 or 330 KMs with my Honda City

200 consumed 20 Liters of Petrol. 200/20 = 10 miles per liter (16 KMs. per liter)

Please have your vitz 2008 checked like this:).
