Vitz 1st gen with 2zz swapped

I have recently purchased a Vitz with 2zz swapped with 6 speed LSD c63 gearbox. Car is running great but the biggest issue I have is the fuel economy, I am getting around 6 to 8KM and max 220 to 250 in a tank with few pulls only. I have had few services done but nothing helps. Most of the online forum say it should easily give 10+ but I am not sure what gives.

Plugs good,
No error codes
Throttle body serviced
Used Injector cleaner
using mixture of high octane and regular
Wiring was fixed with few new clips and idles good as well.

I think one of the drawbacks could be that it's of 17 inch allows and low profile tires but that shouldn't cause this much issue. Bought the car few months ago and the previous owner mentioned that he was getting around 12-14 easily but I am happy even if I can get around 10.

Since it's a 6 speed so I assumed it would have better consumption as I mostly shift between 2000 to 2300 RPM but still no luck.

First be sure no mods being done to engine. Specially aftermarket injectors, headers etc.
Hook it to a scanner and share logs here.

You can bring it for inspection to us, we are Islamabad based.. Will do the full inspection and then let you know how much economy we can enhance...

I hope the scanner port is active as we'll have to hook up the scan tool aswell.

2zz is a fuel guzzler specially if you pull it hard all the time. Is the swap a complete job or has been done just bare minimum.

Thanks Hassan, Everything seems to be stock, except a HKS intake and downpipe. I will get it scanned over the weekend and share the details. Anything in particular that I need to grab from the logs or screenshot of everything?

Thanks Xulfiqar sir, I have tried shifting under 2500 RPM for a whole tank and the max I got from it was around 250 with AC. I think the swap was completely done by the original owner after that car was sold to few other folks and what they did to it no one knows. Every sensor seems to work, car is stable on high speeds as well and pulls like anything. Lifters work properly as well.

Let me know if I should share pics of engine bay that can help us answer these questions.

Yup, wiring is much better from what I got the car with but still needs to be sorted but need a person who knows his stuff who can work on it, most of the electricians these days don't want to get their hands messy just want to hook up computer and change sensors and make bucks.

But if anyone knows a good electrician who knows his stuff I am willing to go to him in Islamabad pinidi. Thanks

what is fuel tank capacity in liters. 40-42 liters ??

in this swap intake is almost non-existent, get an intake fabricated to couple with TB and air-cleaner at other end. It will significantly increase the economy. BTW what do you expect from an 1800 cc engine a honda quad bike fuel average ?? by no means you can achieve over 7 km/ltr from this setup

MAF is never happy with these aftermarket intakes even length of them. They meant to read steady flow.
You are right. He need to use 90" bend and install better air filter best would be oem.

Its like someone fabbed it with scrap pipes from teen dabbay wala.

The wiring is nitto tape jungle too.

To top this cake. I have never heard of. 2zzge being economical even in factory install in corollas and lotus sports cars.

They are known guzzlers as they are extremely high revving engines.

SO TRUE,
if we look at stock intake of such engines the intake BOX is huge to have enough air pocket to compensate the space. check this image

Fun fact is no mechanic is going to agree to install oem filter box like "bhai ya bara hai ya nae fit hon" no matter how much space you got.

Fuel tank 40 liters. I wanted to go with the air cleaner but like Hassan mentioned one of the mechanics mentioned not a good solution, I was probably thinking of getting something that is on 1zz altis like the older 2008 model ones. What do you think?

I do agree but the MR2 forums have mentioned a better mileage from them, but I do agree on all parts that it wasn't a project but more of getting the car to run and do pulls.

Max mileage from 2zzge on Highway is 11-12km/l.
Small displacement performance engines are not designed to give mileage. Head are manufacture to flow more air so more fuel can be burned. Cams are also aggressive so they can rev more.
Yes that will be much better. But install oem air filter in it. And do paint the shield and fuse box. That looks horrible.
