VITZ 2012 how to check/determine that O2 Sensor is bad

Dear PakWheels Colleagues
I have Vitz model 2012 1KR 1.0. done 120 thousand Plus KMs.
I am facing issue of fuel economy as it is consuming about 6-7 KM/Ltr. The consumption was fine and it was giving me about 12 KM within City and 16 KMs at highway but after my trip to Karachi to Kashmir the fuel consumption seems too high.
Apparently, there is no missing, no vibration no sound and everything is normal. My mechanic suggested me to check it after replacing the pre-cat o2 sensor. But before purchasing new O2 sensor of Rs. 14500/- I want to make sure that my O2 sensor is cause of a bad fuel economy.
I have Elm-327 scanner so if anyone can share the correct readings (graph) of o2 sensor through torque it can also help by comparison.
Please do not go towards Catalytic Converter, oil, throttle service or air filter as it has already been done after my road trip as I just want to know if my current o2 sensor is bad or not before buying new one.

SENSOR, OXYGEN (Up-Stream)
Part# 89467-52180
SENSOR, OXYGEN NO.2 (Down Stream)

To improve fuel consumption, do the following:

1) Get your catalytic converter checked for clogging, Replace if clogged.
2) To prevent from clogging, use high octane non-lead fuel and API-SN full synthetic engine oil, preferably of 5W-30 grade.
3) Carry out fuel injector cleaning; ultrasonic fuel injector cleaning. Injectors to be removed and cleaned.
4) Carry out engine flush with Liquimoly engine flush, prior to engine oil replacement.
5) If you are using stock wheels (165/70 r14), maintain 35 PSI pressure.
6) Replace PCV valve if not replaced earlier.
7) install genuine OEM air filter.

Note: The above first 4 items are enough to improve fuel economy. If you do not have any alarm code for O2 (lambda) sensor, no need to replace them. Cheers!

Thanks Imranrnr for the detailed response. Will definitely follow the steps right after eid and will notice the impact and as advised will not change the o2 if it is not required. However can you please advise how or where in Karachi for injector ultrasonic cleaning can be done?

Please also let me know if washing the Cat can do the trick or it can only be done with replacement?

I prefer replacement of CAT, instead of cleaning.

No, idea about Karachi. You may ask Toyota 3S on injector cleaning with ultrasonic machine.

Got my cat replaced today and noticed positive results for performance. Will share the impact on fuel consumption. Will go for other advised steps very soon.

To prevent clogging of CAT in future, do the following:

1) Use only API certified engine oil with SN grade preferably 5W30 viscosity grade. It should be of SN grade which is important. SN grade oil has Zn less than 800 ppm. Zn is one main cause of CAT clogging. Oil with SM or lower like SL have Zn content higher than 1200 ppm.

2) Avoid use of petrol from un-known petrol pumps. Leaded petrol ( banned now) is cause of CAT clogging. I prefer oil from Shell or Total only.

Note: Lead is used ( was used) to improve octane rating of petrol in older days.

Another update I forgot to share. Already using Hi-Octane and using same grade of OIL. Did it in Ramadan before replacing the CAT.
The only step is to have the Fuel injector cleaned as advised.
Engine Flush will be done next time the OIL will be changed.
