Vitz pick up,consumption,sound problem diagnosed

well a colleague of mine purchased a Vitz and after sometime went for general tunning. extremely happy with the fuel average and pick up.......

a few days later he noticed the car's pick up was flat,
engine sound struggling,choking sound,
fuel average went from 15-16 to 9-10
annoyed he thought that the air filter he purchased is causing the problem. air filter was again changed with a better one but problem did persist.
finally went to Toyota motors Aab paraa and here is what they found.....

the exhaust was choked because of the catalytic converter!

It was not replaced brother,
it was taken out (as u can see in the picture)
car fixed in 400 rupees
the catalytic converter was totally clogged !

The owner was so tense with the car problem that he said he will sell it if the problem persists He is more then happy now

Cat converters reduce harmful exhaust gases and reduce pollution, but in return cost slight HP loss, it is mandatory in cuntries like Japan, but in pakistan, it is not required at all, so you can just through it away and live with

Salamalekum Fellas! i also de-cated my vitz but now a hissing sound is comming from the drum which used to contain the cat..like in cultus when u rev it...do u observe the same thing with ur car as well?pleas ereply soon. my email is nabeel_buddy@yahoo.com

not sure exactly what the hiss is ut it's possibly a leak in the joint, have it inspected by a mechanic/ exhaust welder.

due to the fuel in PK containing lead it will eventually choke your catalytic converter and cause a blockage which will leade to so much back pressure that eventually your engine will choke to death.

There are no -ve results as far as i can see as long as the3 job is done well, since even my mercs had the cats removed when i brought them from the UK (same reason - lead in fuel in PK)

hmmm now i guess my problem is solved too as i im quite sure thts wht causing the same problem in my vitz also got to be the cat as it did hit me know hey @strom u said earlier tht yaa took off the cats off ur merc when u imported them here recomend me doin the same on my CL9?

thats exhaust leak probably because the joint nuts are not full tight or uneven.

even the silencer repair replace people can remove it

I might be wrong, but wont removal of the CAT make the engine check light to turn on ??

i'm sure it'll free up some power of you raccord but it might give you some electrical faults (which you can cure with a programmed signal sent to the O2 sensor)

i joined him at 4:30 and he told me about it. he even took my vitz for a run.

as far as hash has told me the light doesn't come on but worst case the signal can be altered from the O2 sensor (that's why i spoke to kkoool about it before i did it, and he'll be able to replicate a "good" signal if needed)

If there is a problem of the engine check light coming on, then don't you think it would be better to have the CAT removed from Toyota, so if the engine check light does come on, they can rectify it there and then.

Just a thought..............
