there are pics of one with a multan number (MNX) on this thread somewhere, it's well done and i think a baja is ideal for PK, however i'd suggest you stick to a "class 5-1600" class conversion and nothing higher since the "class 5 unlimited" versions are tubular chassis cars and will cost a small fortune. do note that the easiest baja class to replicate with a VW type 1 sedan is "class 11".

Hi Friends, I recently renewed the 1963 beetle, its a real fun driving this baby, still looking for some orginal parts to fully restore it in total original shape, couldt find all in bahawapur, now moving to pindi and will definetely improve it further there, any cooments or kind suggestions are welcome, thanks

Now about ur bug: Its amazing... Any pictures of the interior and engine bay?
Plus are you sure its a 1963? Coz the following items are not right for it if its a 1963:

1) Tail-Lights
2) Turn-Lights
3) Bumpers ( Pre 68 the towel rails one)
4) License plate light housing(Should be Pope Nose one)

However that decklid handle sure belongs to a 1963 and is rare

rear is easy, just play with the settings of the torsion beam. fronts can be dropped with drop springs (available from SSP in the UK)

You have a very nice car. As funkycapricorn (Arslan) has already pointed out it is having a few wrong year parts but the good thing is all is easily reversible, rather a simple matter of bolt off and bolt on a few correct for the year parts.


Do post more pics of the interior and engine bay please.....


Some suggestions...please lose the sticker barely visible on the side and the fog lights sunk into the front fenders.....now this would need some repairs and paint.

i was just wondering, when they scrap a car in kHI what do they do with the wheels? any chance of getting a set of them (4 bolt)? i'm DESPERATE for original wheels on my 1303,.. it looks like a riced out VW with those horrid toyota rims on it.

let me know if you run accross a reasonable set, cash waiting (i'll even take 2 sets so that i can get at least 5 good ones out of the 8).

I'm sure many of you are unaware that before VW was working on the beetle, Adolf had asked MB to develop a peoples car. it wasn't too bad to look at and shared alot with the finished beetle,.. some say that VW (porsche) used this car as a template when building the type 1.

that got me thinking,.. is it possible that my infatuation with these 2 brands is interlinked?

The car was called the 170H and was introduced int 1936 as far as i know with the designation W28 and WAS a production car but the sales weren't there so it was axed shortly after launch.

@Storm .... your orignal 170H article wasn't lost. I did read it and was intrigued by it as well.

Maybe the reason that our fav Type-1s share so much with this car along with Porsche is that Dr. Ferdinand Porsche was the designer of all three and in fact, the type-1 was designed from this car in particular. Mercedes Benz 170H (W28). Google for a comparison for early porsche and VW type-1 and you'll be amazed to know that they shared the platform and many mechanicals. The shell was diff because they were being marketed to different people.

There's a 1975 Mercedez Benz W 116 for sale in ISB (https://www.pakwheels.com/xt_details.asp?CarID=59924) which I am interested in buying.

Since I am located in Karachi, I would really appreciate if you guys could help me out and determine whether this car is worth taking a flight to ISB for.

that 280 looks pretty clean and i think that if you can get it in 4 lack it's very much worth buying.
