sounds like your coil is gone or at least on it's way out. best bet is to check if it is hot. if it is you cna take a damp cloth and try to cool it down and they try starting it again after 10 minutes.

if it is gone i'd suggest you either upgrade to a bosch blue coil or get a VW unit with the white resistor on the outside,... worst case do what i did on my 68 and fit a suzuki coil,. it may not look as good but it'll be reliable as hell.

I have standard 15" rims in my car, i want to get them chromed...A guy at the workshop mentioned that i can get my standard rims machined and widened about 5". Then i can get them chromed.

Now i am not too sure if it is possible or even if it is, Is it relaible and safe to drive.

Thanks for uploading the pics........Trusty doesnt look too great but was painted way back in 1998. Dent on left front fender is my stupidity as I was driving under the influence of EXAMS a couple of years back! Have a ton of parts in my stash waiting to go in once I get around for a second rebuild sometime.

Locally done chrome doesnt last long as far as my experience n knowledge goes. Good quality chrome costs big bucks and is seldom available as there would be few customers. Still u can conduct ur own research.

I would not touch the idea of widening rims with a ten foot pole. Its bound to end in disaster. DONT go for it I must say. If you are too keen on this look, have some aftermarket rims imported yourself. U do get wide rims in stock style abroad.

If this answers your question.....the idea is neither safe nor reliable!!

that is because 99.99% of the time that is the only thing which goes wrong in a type 1 in terms of ignition related problems. it's happend to me a few times that's why i know it's a common fault.

As for the 66 it's a very relaxed project being built will spare cash so the whole project stalls from time to time till the next bit of spare cash come by. hope fully all will be revealed soon buddy.

local chrome is not very long lasting however if you get it done you can always get it clear laquered and it'll keep the shine for a loooong time.
