BTW, never use the original jack points.
After a qtr-century (or more), the sheet metal "stiffeners"
inside the rear quarter panel are probably rusted and will
buckle leaving great wrinkles in the bodywork.

One of the very good denters i know used this jack to stretch back dented frames. It is one strong thing. He is still using it making it a total of around 15 years

I'll feel lucky only when I find the floorpan rubber, clean front bumper with bars, clean left fender for 66< model, windscreen rubber for 61 and clean set of wheel cups... get all these on the beetle and hand over the keys of fully restored 61 deluxe to my wife!<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com<img src=" /><o:p></o:p>

If you guys can get complete floorpans pressed and welded then why not the jacking points - you can even further do them up with extra braces so they dont twist the body while jacking up.

Ive repaired/reinforced some japanese - stupid sill mount jacking points that you see on honda/toyota - and they work nice, also had one mercedes 123 jack point re made - and it lifted the car good

Agreed, Should do that if you are redoing the car like I am at the moment, however we still need to be careful with the older cars.
