Id try to find a Superbug speedo cable for you, but it may take some time. Id suggest you change shock absorbers as a pair only. Not in ones or threes.

Thanx for ur response. Time is no issue if u can find the speedometer cable. Will take the bug to Khalid at westridge on Saturday. Got the tyres changed today. Previous ones were 205/65 R15... I took 195/65 R15 and the steering has become a bit lighter.

From what discussion that's been going on for this particular bug, I don't know why its being referred to as 58?

From what I can see from the pictures, I would date it as a 61 or 62, even with all the bastardization (excuse the word but it fits perfectly) its been through. Its definitely not a 58, not a 59, not a 60. Lets see if others can support my 'dating'. Id list my reasons once people are done.

I'm a bit confused though. Nasir bhai and Aleem say it used to have semaphores. Is there any evidence of the B pillars having been patched over?? If my observations are correct, this was NOT a semaphore car, being a post 1960 example.

All said and done, it still deserves to undergo a sympathetic resto and put back to former glory.

Are there any '67 1500 Beetles in PK?

I've never seen one personally, though I've seen plenty of 1200 (standards), 1300s and of course there's @Nasir's Convertible.

A couple of years ago, I was contacted by a chap in Lahore who claimed to have a 1-owner, zenith blue LHD sunroof '67 1500 - the only one I've heard of. Anyone seen this car?

The Euro-spec 1500s are fascinating (and here in the UK at least, highly desirable) cars, having the charming looks (and 6volt electrics!) of the pre-67s with that fantastic engine and updated mechanicals.

My 67 convertible is a 1500cc with 12 V electrics and factory disk brakes upfront.

I have the switch panel minus the switches, a glove box door and a under dash panel over the fuse box for a 1303. Can post pictures if anyone needs. Oh and I have a NOS glove box lock with original key for the same car

I could identify any part of Block N North Nazimabad by looks - I lived there for eons.

Im not such a picture guy myself, so there might be some odd ones of my 1302 somewhere at home. The big problem is finding them. This 1302 served highway duty quite often - and for no apparent good reason too, e.g. We (me + freinds) used to run it to Hyderabad for some cake.. - silly I know - but the 1600 DP engine was quite fun at speed.

It has the pre 60 fuel tank and spare wheel well but it is a regular 58/9 nothing special except for the RT.

Thank you, was originaly a 1300 but the engine has been replaced with 1200 some time in its life...

I'm facing an issue with my super... the battery keeps dying even when the car is running and the alternator is charging properly...

The electrician says it has something to do with the ignition...

BTW i need a complete new ignition for the super as well... the current one has been modified to work with a domestic "door bell" as the engine start button... YES!! that is right... its a freaking white door bell in my dash board... :'(:'(

I need some one well versed with Super Beetle electricals to have a detailed look at the wiring on my bug... the previous "Ustaad" (so to say) didnt know jack Shiest abt what he was doing... recommendations needed desperately...

p.s. i recall a well versed electrician working on Storm's "Thing"... can he be asked to come over to have a look at the bug as well...
