Get a B16 and we'll talk. I've had a D16W9, D15b VTEC and now a B16a. I can safely say that the weakest vtec was in d16w9, followed by d15b. B series has some really powerful vtec kick guys!

I've been waiting for it to happen ever since i swapped to a D15B. For some reason my car just doesn't go up to 5500.

btw I've observed from other ppls accounts/videos that the "kick" isn't really a kick/jerk/boost effect in all cars. a frnds car has vtec set to kick in at 2500 and what i felt was a strong push by the car along with a change in sound (more aggressive) and increased acceleration.

the vtec is primarily a balance between economy and power. ur car is in economy mode till reach 5500 RPM and i m certain no one with economy in mind reaches 5500

3 Stage VTEC and DOHC VTEC with wild cam has the KICK which actually increased power output considerably

the Standard VTEC mainly just runs the Engine in 8 Valve mode while under 2500RPM
and engages all 16 Valve after 2500RPM

basically its
8 Valve for Economy > 16 Valve Normal

while 3 Stage is something like
8 Valve for Economy > 16 Valve Normal > Wild Cam Profile for Performance

people really need to know what Vtec really is its just a system
people think that vtec means after 5000(xxx rpm) a wild cam lobe kicks in and boost your car
Yes that is wat happns in most of the vtec engines but the theory and the engineering has nothing to do with speed or power it depends on the lobe specs if you are using somehow a lobe with less duration and lift when you hit vtec u will feel less power and then you shouldnt say vtec didnt kick in same is the case with Vtec-e
basically a VTEC-E is not the Vtec the desi crowd thinks no wilder lobe

@vyrus very well said abt the v.tec of d16w9,i own a vti 2002 with a d16w9 under the hood nd honestly syng there is no feel of''v.tec kick'n in'' but yeah it can be noticed tht the rpm bcmz fster btween 3-5k revs..when i bot ths car i thot the v.tec is out f order but when i got it chekd from parent cmpny they said tht v.tec is working perfctly fine.
if we cmpare d15b with d16w9 then my persnl expernce says tht its more noticble(d15b's i mean).nd in b16......it meets this slogn prety well''v.tec kicked in yooo...''
